Nail Repair before Shellac

I've had bioscultpure applied to my own nails and they used a adhesive type tape to a nail that I split. Does anyone know if this would work under shellac and what the tape is (silk?) can I get this from Ellisons or similar?

Yes it would have been silk that was used with Bio Sculpture. It's usually applied to the gel before it's cured and it disappears into the gel so it can no longer be seen.
