Hi guys

had a client last night and to be honest was a bit of a challange as she had about 2mm of nail in very bad condition. Client just wanted nails. I prepped her nail as much as I could , used a tip and extended the nail bed. Anyway she woke up this morning and 2 were off :( not good. It has never happened to me before but I have not done nails like that befor either. Any advice she does not want them replaced she said her nails just don't take good

Nail biters are always a challenge. Did you use gel or l&p?

Whenever I get a nail biter in my chair I use l&p and I sculpt a new nail plate - as opposed to using a tip. I also insist that the clients keep the nails very, very short. If the client refuses, then I will not guarantee her service, as long nails with little to adhere to will most certainly break off.

I also recommend that the clients come to see me either weekly or bi-weekly to that I can check them and do any maintenance that may be required. We kind of have to baby them along until their nail plate grows out.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for ur reply. I used l&p with nail tip. The clients ok I think it happens to her quite often but she will be good to practice on I guess. I just felt really bad but ok now . And it's all experience . Thanks for ur tips and advice xx

Excellent advice there & I agree with everything Mely-Bely said.

Don't beat yourself up over this hun, she's obviously a serious nail biter. I don't doubt she lost her 2 nails legitimately & I don't mean that's your fault.

It's always best to sculpt a nail biter IMO that is. The more product is actually on the nail plate (what bit there is of it) the stronger the enhancement will be.
I'm sure when you did the tip & overlay, they looked good after, but tips will not give you the strength you need on a client like this, - sculpt, keep nice & short & allow them to grow as much as poss, so see her every week for a few weeks & infill/rebalance as needed.
Nail biters nail do tend to grow quite quickly & if you keep it up, she will have grown some more nail plate to help her & you along.

Yep sculpt...tips dont stay on nail bitters as well as normal nails. Could you show us a picture?
