Hiya

I know exactly how you feel as i have just finished my level 2 in beauty and have sent out sooooo many cv's and just nothing comes of it! i have been posting out some leaflets as i thought id give it a go doing it mobile but ive posted out about 500 and only had about 4 people come back to me which is very dissopointing!! as ive spent out a lot of money to get them printed!
so now im going back to college in september to do my level 3 as this does seem the only way to be able to get a good job in the industry! i think salons just want people to be qualified in basically everything now as then they are covered on all bassis!

hiya,i know it sucks doesnt it!!!they dont tell you how hard it will be when u at college

Tell me about it when your at college all they do is keep telling you hoe easy it will be for you to get a job once you have completed the course!
Then at the end they tell you that u need to do the level 3 to be able to get a good job its so annoying!!!

:) I would recommend going Mobile, it does take time to build up a client base, but you dont have to work all the hours god sends on a low wage.
Advertising on all the free web sites ie yell.com, netmums.com and scoot. getting a website, face book and post cards in shops, even four clients responding is good. They could be repeat business every six weeks and pass on your details to two or three friends and it will build from there.
Dont get disheartened. It is incredibly rewarding just give it time and make sure you make a real effort with every client.
Then you could gradually add to your treatments by doing extra courses over the next year or so as you earn.
Good luck and keep on trying.

Hiya

The website that you have got yourself did you have to pay for that or did you get it free?

Thank you

I would really recommend continuing with your level 3 (particularly if you want to be salon based). You have come this far - you may as well go for it if you are in a position too.

i would recommend carrying on to do your level 3 too
it will help alot!
and doing that extra year will help you to realise if it is the industry that you really want to go into and give you more passion for it
well it did for me anyway lol :)

A lot of salon owners don't consider you to be 'fully' qualified until you have your level 3. And believe me, it really does make a world of difference to your knowledge and confidence in all areas of your job, not just the facials. I very nearly didn't take level 3 but am o glad I did.

Now as as salon owner I have to say I couldn't take on a level 2 only because that would mean they couldn't do half the work!

You could always work mobile for yourslef whilst taking your level 3. You won't regret it I promise.

Hi it's the basic one from Vista print. £3 a month. It is basic but I have had loads of business from it, so does the job.:)

Hi, I've recently finished my level 2 beauty and level 2 hair that I have been studying part time since last September. I've decided that I'm going to concentrate on beauty as i enjoyed it more and so I've just set up my mobile beauty business. I'm 36 and really want to work for myself. I've just enrolled on level 3 part time and start September so then I can also offer massage etc.
If I can do it anyone can!! Good Luck x

Hi Jen, maybe my story will give you hope. 2mths into my level 3 course i booked into (what i've always considered to be the nicest) local salon for a bikini wax as i wanted to watch an experienced therapist at work, (1 week until my intimate womens waxing course with kim, soo excited ). I wore my uniform, the therapist asked if i was in the business, would i be interested in working saturdays and an evening a week!. Waxing over with i had a relaxed chat with the salon owner and took up the offer of work experience . My salon owner is a wonderful lady, as is my manager, both over-flowing with patience and understanding. I took up the saturday position as working a couple of evenings proved to much on top of running a hsehold and college. I was sent to Elemis for a weeks training very soon after starting at the salon and now that i've just passed my NVQ3 and can relax and extend my hours i am being trained in sugaring and demabrasion and will be back off to Elemis to attend the body treatments course.
Two other colleagues have also found work at very good salons.
I think thats its worth going into salons and asking to speak to the owners/managers in person, take in your CV. CVs no matter how impressive dont show a salon your appearance or people skills.
Good luck, keep your chin up  Jackie b
