:hug:Hiya!
Searching the world wide web for some answers about uv gel I came across this lil gem on a forum!
I have been lurking and told myself I wouldn't join and post, simply as I'm not a nail/hair/salon professional but honestly I still cant seem to get the answers from researching the web!
So if yall don't mind a complete newb bugging you over some nail stuff I don't understand please answer!
Years ago now I bought a Rio UV nail set 2nd hand. I'm not one for fake nails, the tips I was using on my mum, and I just wanted gel on my natural nails to protect them, but I could never and cannot get the uv gel to cure properly.
I even left em under there longer and yea it went hard, but didn't set all over and part come off with the finishing wipe and part stayed on the nail.

So could it be that the Rio lamp is rubbish, not Strong enough, I have a crappy technique or that rio's uv gel is pants?
To check the lamp and get some practice I was considering getting some cheap gels, branded Tina i think

I did look at other gels on ebay, calgel and bio sculpture that Ive read about on here, but they are super expensive and will they be so much better than the cheap ones?

Any constructive advice would be very much appreciated!

King regards

Hi,

I have never heard or seen that brand. I am sure the other brands you named are high quality brands, but you really need to get education before you are going to do nails (on anyone). With most of the high quality brands you need a certificate before you even can buy them. :)

I think everyone will agree with me about education. You can do so much damage on nails, which you are not aware of.

My thoughts exactly!
Sorry, but the only advice I can give you is to get some education...
It's the only way you can learn to work on people's nails and have a beautiful result, without causing any damage!

Is it like the one sold in Argos?

Not really sure what the quality is like but tbh as the other geeks said, its mostly education!:)

Rio are crap, but to be honest without any education your application wont be great either. 'Doing nails' is not easy - if it looks easy then you've had a skilled Tech in the past......

The only constructive advice I will give you is either get some decent education or leave nail enhancements to the professionals. You can do untold damage to your nails if you don't know what you're doing......

Would you cut your own hair and expect salon results? More to the point would you expect your hairdresser to give you advice on cutting your own hair? No, you wouldn't. Please show Nail Tech's the same respect.

I couldn't have put it better:)

hi,
you do need to do a course,iv seen the product you talking about ,it may be that you need new bulbs in the uv lamp or maybe your puting it on to thick.hope this helps.im new to this to ,good luck.

Hiya again, well thanks anyway, yes it's the system sold in argos.
Im only looking to do my own nails, nothing special just the thin layers of uv gel.
I actually wouldnt mind/would love to do a course but money and time would become an issue, Im workin part time minimum wage, Im not looking to do other peoples nails or make money from it.
If you guys know any any part time courses that dont cost the earth, in East London that would be much appreciated.
