This may seem like a stupid question so I'd like to apologise in advance for that. We never covered this at college.

When I'm doing a gel NNO do I need to build an apex. I was thinking yes I would have to, but then I remembered when I had Calgel NNO I'm pretty sure the tech didn't build an apex.

Is it just with tips and sculpts you need the apex for strength?

Thanks

Hi...I think doing an apex is more about what length the nails are.....so if I am doing a short NNO and the nails already have a nice shape then i don't build an apex....but if the nails are longer or flat then I would.

Thanks Bagpuss. Cleared that up for me.

I always build a vertical apex into every nail I do .. it is my signature style of nail and is barely perceptible to the eye.

The apex sits in the enhancement from free edge to eponychium like a back bone and gives strength to the whole enhancement.

It really means that the enhancement is always balanced so I never have to rebalance the structure as the backbone of thicker product runs all along the length.

It's all in the brush technique.

Hi Gigi(Can I call you that? I feel I'm too new to be that familiar. lol)

When you look down the barrel of your nails do you have a raised part in the middle? I'm just trying to picture this.

Thanks

Yes, just as if it were a crescent moon.

This technique gives a beautiful natural shape and a lovely rounded look that is very pleasing to the eye.

Everything is very gradual as it should be .. no sharp angles or curves.

It creates the strongest enhancement possible ... rarely do I ever see a breakage on one of my clients.
