Can anyone give me step by step guidance as to how to apply odour free acrylic nails. I have all the odour free products already. I am currently doing an Essential Nails l&p course. (Did nails 25 years ago) I have a son with serious Tourettes and unfortunately the aroma has set up a very disturbing tic for him which affects his breathing.

He had no reaction at all when I tried the odour free stuff cured under a UV lamp.

Problem is Do you apply just as normal l&p then cure under lamp, followed by UV gloss, or do you apply in layers as with gels.

Also does anyone know if EssentiaL Nails would allow me to complete the course using odour free due to this extreme reaction from my very sick son.

Any help gratefully accepted

First of all Suzi I am sorry you have had the problems you have had and that they have affected your son.

My advice? Whatever the odour free products are you are using... go to the company you purchesed them from to find out the best way to use them. It is very difficult for professionals on the site to give across the board advice on something that they don't know...

As far as EN.. John Grace is very approachable and I am sure if you called them directly they would understand your prdicament and help you.

If you can tell us what 'odour' free system you are using then someone 'may' be able to help but the best advice on any product comes from the product house educators and/or distributors!

Best of Luck!

Thanks I will call EN tomorrow. I am training on the EN Acrylic L&P but I have the EN Odour free products as well which I have also used albeit without first hand knowledge. I know how to apply them but I am unsure as to whether you do just onelayer, cure and then apply top gloss and cure again or whether you have to apply more than one layer like gel.

I couldn't answer that but I promise EN will be able to!! Best of Luck! :!:

This may not be relevant as you will be contacting EN direct, but the only difference I noticed between the low odour/odourless and regular monomers from Tammy Taylor, is that I had to adjust my ratio (a bit dryer with the odourless). I didn't change my application method besides the ratio. But as SS said, each system has its own procedures.

RE: Sensitivities: My son is extremely sensitive to vapours as well, so we've had to use dry cleaning for the carpets, low VOC interior paint (with the windows all open and him out of the house) as well as natural cleaning products. I'm going to be doing my EZ Flow re-training next week (after being out of the official biz for over 15 years) and one of the first things I'm going to ask about is low odour/odourless monomers.

Good luck and do keep us posted!

Nancy :)

Hi thanks for that I will try using a bit dryer. My son is not just sensitive to strong odours he has very complex tourettes syndrome with OCD, and so many other related issues. The smell has set off this new and very odd motor tic of deep sniffing, and pinching his nose. Unfortunately he becomes very obsessed with new tics, he got so bad with a breath holding one at the beginning of the year he passed out, was blue lighted to hospital and ended up being unconscious for 2 weeks followed by a further 3 months in hospital to try to overcome this tic.

So you can understand the need for me to eliminate any odour if its at all possible. And I have been told that you really cannot tell the difference between the two products with the finished result.
Has anyone actualy got any experience with Essential Nails Odour free products?

Sorry to hear that. I am sure EN will work with you to ensure you can complete their course with an alternative product. Give them a call you will find them very helpful. x
