Hi, I am starting up my own salon from an old rustic barn at the back of my house...I just can't decide which facial products to go for! I have asked around and most local people I have asked say a facial is more of a treat they would have once a year...if that is the case is it better to go with a lovely organic range (also thinking it would suit the barn type rustic image?!) & can anyone recommend an organic range that really works? On the other hand I would love to stock a brand which I get to know well and can put together skin plans for customers...how much demand is there for this & any recommendations? I have heard good things about Eve Taylor are there any others worth investigating? Thank you... Maybe I am over thinking this??!! Xx

Eminence (The Skinsmith is distributor) is gorgeous / Eve Taylor is very good .. Get them to send you details and samples

Thank you! I will investigate! This is all very new for me, I have had a big career change so any help us very much appreciated! Are facials a big part of your salons...do customers come back monthly for them? I have samples from Eve Taylor it's just so hard to tell the long term difference the products will make from a few samples? I personally love Clarins & use it for my skin but just too expensive for me to start out with! Thank you for any help!! Xx

I felt the same as you so I started using Eve Taylor's products on myself for a few months before investing in the start-up package. I absolutely love the products!

Thank you! Do your customers come back regularly for facials? X

Hi sorry me again! Anyone ever used 'Katherine Daniels' I really like the look & sound of her products? Also if I was to use eve Taylor products could anyone recommend which would be worth trying for my skin type...I have oily skin but if I use anything too harsh my skin gets dehydrated and a little sore...still struggling to get breakouts and blocked pores under control and now 37 so battling with fine lines & wrinkles;) thank you xx

Hi Samdur
It's always a good idea to buy some small sizes products from a brand to use on your own skin to get a better idea of their effects over a period of time before you invest in a brand, these costs should have been worked into your business plan originally and are part of your research costs.
For an oilier skin the Purifying range would be recommended however it is very active (esp Purifying Wash) so if your skin is a little temperamental then try the Balancing Cleanser with Purifying Toner and Purifying Moisture Lotion. I would also highly recommend Clearing Aromatic Serum too - just 3 drops pressed into cleansed skin, followed by spritz toner snd moisturiser.

My friend has Katherine Daniels in her salon and is very happy with it but it's a big outlay to start up, particularly if you don't have an existing clientele to start with.

To be perfectly honest, I haven't promoted facials much yet as my treatment room is in my house at the moment and it's not always as quiet and tranquil as I would like for such a relaxing treatment. We are planning to convert a detached outbuilding away from the house but it's taking longer than I thought! I would say though that my existing clients - mainly nails - are of a similar mindset to yours and think of facials as an occasional treat, which is a shame. Those that have tried it love the products though!

Thank you all so much...really helpful xx

Thank you so much, I am very tempted by neals yard. I can really imagine it working for me. Any more details you have would be great! I expect their start up costs are pretty expensive? Xx

Hi yes they are lovely products and nice to work with also. I find the company give you good product training and free courses. So you become a consultant. I dont do home parties i only sell and sometimes do pamper parties for people which helps with selling and getting clients more interested in coming in for facials. Bit you can also get a discount card to order more products with a percentage off like massage oils and more.
At the moment they have a half price start up for £xx or the other full size kit at £xx

Have a look at my website at the kit you can get with discount etc.
If you want more info after let me know dont want to bombard you with too much info

Oh wow thank you please bombard me!!! So you become consultant...you don't then have to spend a minimum amount a year and can order the products as and when? I would love to look at your website could you leave me your link... Thank you so much!

Also...have you ever looked at 'neom'? Xxx

Just be aware that neals yard are an mlm company so your clients can buy the products and start retailing them alongside you. The mark up on retail is also much less than a pro only brand.

Thank you it's much appreciated. I do t think I am too worried about the ongoing retail if products...I just want to use really lovely products for now...to start off I am just trying the spa find...not a huge selection but good for me just starting out! Anyone have any experience with spa find?

Thanks
Sam x

I view Neals Yard in the same vein as Avon, Younique and Forever Living etc. and I wouldn't waste money visiting a salon that uses these types of products as I could just buy them myself, if I was so inclined.

If you want to promote yourself as a skin specialist, then stick with a decent Pro brand and market yourself to the types of clients who value high end luxury over budget brands.

Hi use organic at home . They are a small handmade vegan brand . Clients love it x

Thank you both great to hear different points of view! I am def. leaning towards organic for now...not so worried about the ongoing retail but just want to provide a lovely organic facial experience for now... Organic at home sounds interesting I will look into it thank you xxx
