Hey all

I've only got about 40 polishes but can't figure out what order to put them in or them to look at their best. Every time I swap the order around they need moving coz a few don't look right!! What do you all do and is their a secret method? Or is it a case of just keep trying?!

I keep all polishes out of sight and just offer a few colors to the client after they have chosen a theme. Otherwise we could be there forever while she picks one out.

It helps if you know which colours set each other off and use this knowledge to organize your shades and show them off to the best advantage.

CND help their technicians by giving a colour code for polishes that has already been worked out by an expert which helps the technicians who use it enormously. We're not all colour experts and a company who helps you in these ways is worth their weight in gold.

I've got some salon pics in one of my albums on my profile, have a look at that, I have them on the wall on skinny shelves, all in order, and everyone comments on it when they come in. They know just where to look for their favourites, and I always keep a little section where I put my newest colours for a few weeks. hth x x

Jessica supply me with clear "nail wands" where you paint the colours on the nail shape, this means you needn't even have the varnishes out, meaning you can keep them in a cool dark place.

Hmm.

Personally I like my polish colours displayed for all to see. There is no need to keep good professional polishes in the dark and clients can be looking and choosing during the service which saves time when choosing at the end.

CND colours look as they do in the bottle so I don't need to paint them onto colour pops or other nail disks etc. Who has the time?

With the new Shellac colours, the bottles are also the exact colour of the product inside the bottles, so no surprises. You can have complete confidence.

Well it will always be a matter of personal taste, but having them on the wands means the client can be looking at them during the treatment, or before treatment whilst waiting.

My clients love them as they enable them to be able to hold the coloured nail over their own nail to give an idea of what it will look like against their own skin tone. Looking at bottles is all fine & well but gives them little idea of what the colour looks like in tandem with their own skin colouring.

As for it taking time, it takes all of a few seconds to paint two coats of a colour onto a plastic nail.

I advise my clients of the colours that go well with their skin tones ... Most of them would not have a clue without my advise. It is my job to give them the right advice ... It's why I am behind the table is it not? They look and I suggest. Clients trust me and always take my advice.

I love to have my polishes out on display - it's so nice seeing all those lovely colours, funny this came up because only today I was thinking of moving some of them into reception to promote a little nail offer I have on. I line them all up in a lovely long line and colour coordinate them....... oooo its one of the many wonderful things of our work that we get to do such lovely things.

Thanks ladies, great advice. I think it's good to have them on display - especially where the client can see them whilst your'e doing her treatment - saves her staring at me for the whole time!!

Thanks again x
