hi all hope you are well .i have a customer this evening who has never had acrylic nails on before and after she booked she called again to ask loads of questions ie, do these wreck her nails will it do her harm to be in a room with the smell:eek: etc so just wondered how do you answer these questions if you have ever been asked as i think its gonna be a long appointment :zzz: thanks guys xxx
 
You need to answer her confidently and explain that it is not the nail enhancements which will wreck her nails but the way they are applied or removed. If using a good quality product with good adhesion then the nail does not need shredded to get a key. You are merely removing shine.

There is no harm to her health. She is obviously a very nervous client who has maybe heard lots of horror stories - put her mind at reast and cultivate trust and hopefully a long term client.
 
MMmmmmmm, doesn't sound like your ideal client. Be yourself and make her feel at ease, if she's still not convinced, don't put them on. She could well bad mouth you if things don't go to her liking. I have one lady who is very fussy and I used my people skills and my skill and she's great now!!! Have Fun!

I am sure that you will be fine. Just be professional and let her know the before and after care too. Some people think you just plonk nails on and that is it!! If she is too worried or going to be too nervous etc then offer her a manicure instead? There is no point doing them if she is going to be too stressed with the service and not enjoy them. It is one of these things. I think also sometimes if it is a first for the client they do get worried and don't know what to expect. I had someone tonight (a spray tan). I did patch test a few days ago etc and came today for whole tan she felt confident that I knew what I was doing! Went home happy! Maybe that is what you could do for her, offer that she comes and gets one fingernail done to see if that is what she wants and this also familiarises her with the procedure etc. If she is worried about vapour then there is alway the gel option (if you do those?)

If I were starting out today in the nail business, and wanting to attract the people who have high standards and appreciate quality, here is what I would do. I would have a card or literature printed that said this:

I am a nail technician of quality and excellence.
I am well educated and competent at my job.
I do nails that are beautiful and long lasting.
I make nails that look real and naturally your own …
I do not make nails that look false and unnatural.
I practise good sanitation and work safely always.
I guarantee the health and beauty of your natural nails at all times.

What I would not do is ‘flog a dead horse’ and spend hours explaining to clients, that may or may not care, about products, chemicals, lack of education of other nail techs, lack of standards of other nail techs … bla bla bla.

What I would not do is spend my time constantly worrying about the lack of standards in others; the lack of skill of others; the NSS down the road; the ‘kitchen mafia’ or ‘ironing board brigade’ who ‘play’ around doing nails they are satisfied with because they know no better; the ladies who DIY with products from Ebay or the local pharmacy.

Forget it and put your energy into attracting the clients YOU want.

Apart from a very few persons, it is YOU who should blow your own trumpet and then the hardest part …. None of us can expect people’s respect or custom unless we have earned it .. it must be won by our example.

Lastly, you’d better to be able to deliver and over-deliver on your promises to your customers.

thanks geeg that totaly makes sense i have given her all the advice i can about application ,aftercare the products etc she seems happy as she has spoken to one of my clients (knows her personaly)and seems more at ease . thanks for all your advice your a great bunch .and geeg the ironboard thing made me laugh i actually knew someone who did that and guess what she was not qualified glad this client didnt go to her eh xxxxx
