I have just added gellux nails to my treatment list after specialising in waxing for the last 4 years.

Can anyone give me a break down of achieving the perfect manicure and prep for the nails?? I'm a bit rusty on cuticle work and I know that if the gel comes into contact with it, it causes it to lift!

What are the best tools and creams etc at the moment?

Thanks xx

The best thing would be to go and do a days Gellux training. Most Insurance companies won't cover you if you don't have a certificate in any service you offer. Therefore the training will give you that and show you how to get the best from the system.

Shape the free edge
Dry prep is best so push back cuticle and remove any non living tissue. A metal double ended tool is best.
Buff the nail plate gently with a 240 grit file or a white block.
Remove Dust and then wipe over with prep and wipe liquid and lint free pad.
Apply fast bond and allow to dry for 1 min.
Thin base coat- cure 30 secs
Colour coat cure 30 secs
Second colour coat cure 30 secs
Top coat cure 30 secs
Remove inhibition layer with prep and wipe
Cuticle oil.

Hi thanks! I have been on the training but personally didn't find it that good. Thanks

If you get any gel on the side walls or cuticle then wipe away with an orange wood stick before curing

Thanks guys,I maybe should of written it a bit better.
I am all good on the application of gellux it was more what people do themselves as in just a manicure and how they achieve a perfect manicure I.e making sure all cuticles are out the way and no bits of skin left behind etc....

Maybe I just need to be more patient and keep practicing. I just don't want to offer the treatment until I am 100% happy myself x

Oh I see.
Push back the spiny guys gently then push back the cuticle. It will lift then use the knife end to scrape this from the nail plate and up around the side walls.
A curette is meant to be helpful if you have trouble removing it all.
Use cuticle remover if it's very overgrown. Cuticle away is recommended on here but make sure to rinse thoroughly and dehydrate the nail.

It's best to do a days course in gellux as they will recommmend the products and tools to use for the system.
