Hi everyone:

I am a new nail tech of 3 months and have finally mastered a perfect new set of sculpted french gel nails. However, I seem to have problems when it comes to fills  I end up with the white looking like its kind of patchy and kind of like it was filed off in places (I use an efile). Can you share tips on how to stop this happening or what I need to do instead? I have Gigi's book, which I LOVE, but find that when I do fills that way without digging out the trench the nails end up looking really thick or really patchy because I only did the smile line and didn't cover the whole nail with white again. Please help, I don't want this to cost me my future clients :irked:

Hi, I'm not really that into gel, myself, but it's generally much easier to file off than l&p. The gels I've trained in <Brisa and Ezflow's Gel It> are better suited to hand filing, but I'm not sure about your brand/s?

Whatever method you use, I think a lot of us struggle with rebalances etc and they can seem at least as much work, if not more, than a new set. I know that this has been the case for me. If you are happy with your new sets after only 3 months <well done!>, then I don't imagine you'd have too many problems with rebalances long term. I think I would persevere with practising your hand filing for this task, tbh. Good luck with your venture. :)

Hi, I use a paint on white for my tip and never have a problem. There is a great tutorial on here how to use it. Best of luck to you! :)
