Ok girls.... i know lots of you advised against it but i got bonded hair extensions..

I LOVE them and have had them for nearly 2 months and it is so wonderful and nice having long hair..

My issue is that they are badly matted between my scalp and the bond (i truly did all i was told to do and have really looked after them - especially not gone to sleep on them!)

Im too embaressed to go to the hairdressers cause they are a mess... (well really badly tangled e.t.c)

My hair has always been notty but i reckon if i can get the hair extensions out then i can leave conditioner on for a few days and it will be fine!

So how do i go about taking them out and whats the best thing to use?? I dont care about cost I just really dont want to be bald!

I will be very VERY careful when removing them and will have help so they will be taken out slowly..

Please help.. im so sorry to be a pain (as always).. im actually crying right now cause i dont want to take them out... but i also dont want to be bald

Please help..

Hugs and kisses to you all!

XXXXX:cry:

what glue did you use?

maybe contact someone that fits them ask them what to do i'm sure they'll be able to tell u.

maybe sit their with conditioner on your hair and keep puttin more on every hour one day when your free try comb them out.

Hi, sorry you are having trouble.
were you not told to have 1/2 hour each week to separateand detangle your extensions? As the new hair grows it will have a different direction to the bonds. And lying on them will cause matting (but we all need to sleep). You need to go back to the place you had them done and they will give them the attention they need. However if you have not looked after them properly, ie:
- tie hair up before going to bed - not too much pressure on the bond.
- use a natural bristle brush, ends first then from bond down.
- no conditioner, serums or oil treatments onto the glue.
- not too much heat to your head, blow dry on medium or cool.
- try not to wash your hair more that 2-3 times a week.

If you want to remove them you are best to sleep in oil treatments, best and cheapest is olive oil wrapped in a towel prior to having them removed professionally. Any good extensionist wont mind removing them for you. Its not always explained about the maintenance and some clients are shocked at the upkeep.
Don't dispair, if they are looked after and removed properly there is little or no damage to the natural hair.

Good luck
Lisa

Thanks guys... i have been very careful with them and thats even more of a reason im upset about having to have them taken out..

I literally did everything on your list to the letter.. only washed my hair 3 times a week.. platted it before i went to bed.. brought nice shampoo, and a bristle brush they showed me to buy and a tangle teaser!

So how do i go about (in steps if poss) removing them??

I will be careful im just upset when i truly have looked after them that my own hair is so matted! I totally get about the different direction of hair growth tho.. never thought of it like that!

Even got the bf to go through my hair once a week, seperate the bonds e.t.c... i think he will be glad when i have them removed so he wont have to do that anymore!

Sooo whats the actual process??? Is it just best to cover my head in loads of olive oil over night in a warm towel then they next day CAREFULLY remove them with the help of the bf again.. one by one.. with the help of more oil??

Sorry i know im difficulte i just really dont want to go to the hairdressers

p.s i got it done at the hair academy so a student did it.. whilst the hair extension guy watched and helped.. she was very good and it was a 121 class so we got full attention! But i feel i cant go back.. sorry...

p.p.s... im even more embaressed cause i cant afford to have them removed at the hairdressers.. I set aside money for them to be taken out professionally and had to used the money as i have not been paid properly!

oh dear :-(

Hello, have you had any maintenence at all ?

You should have been offered maintenance, its the prime info and after care advice prior to the treatment as often clients are unaware of the possible costs. I offer weekly separation, care and blow dry/styling for up to £30 depending on length. I'm always only a phone call away for people like you that are struggling, as you love them so much, and we want you to, we should help you to look after them.

I'm sorry but there is no quick way to remove them without damaging your hair. sleeping in olive oil in a towel is great for 2-3 nights prior to removal, but we use orange oil rubbed on the bond which breaks down the protein in the glue. If you lived closer I would do it for you free, this does not help our industry when we hear you so upset. I can only suggest you do a search on this site and find a geek in your area who will be only too pleased to help you. xx

Hi , if you have had you're extensions in for two months then you are over due your maintenance ,but you also have a month left too
so don't worry its not usually as bad as it looks

if you go back to where they done it for you they will snip off all the tangled dead bits of hair that has gathered at the top of the extensions for you , this snipping of dead hair that is trapped in the top of the bond will free the extensions up and makes them swing freely at the roots again

they are probably looking like bits of fuzz at the roots and very tangled and all sticking together like dreadlocks with lots of little white bits in them too

if it is very bad and looping at the roots and they are completely matted up together then maintenance may not be possible
and it may be better to just get them taken out( wish I was nearer I could have helped you )
this will be depending on what sort of keratin they have used .....
you will need a professional who will use a professional crushing tool to get them out and a special dissolving soloution .....as I say it all depends on what sort of keratin it is as there are a few different removal systems and solutions out there ,
and some keratin based bonds will not budge with oils at all .....
so..... please do not run the risk of bald spots by trying removing them yourself just because you are embarrassed ,
please don't worry we have seen it all before
please go to a professional  x minky

p.p.p.s sorry i know i should not have posted this here.. im desprate and need a professional.. sorry if i upset anyone..

i just cant stop crying and think im going to flood my keyboard or possibly my home ...

as Minky says don't run the risk, get them removed professionally. We don't want a budding beautician walking around with bold spots, giving us a bad name!! If you are going to have them out, you can help by sleeping in oil and a towel. Good luck hun xx

Hi, yes the oil is worth a try....
but if its a hard keratin bond .... its usually needs to be crushed and a keratin dissolvent applied to it ,
removal by crushing using a special dissolvent solution is the hardest way to remove them
and needs a professional to remove them without causing harm to your hair
sorry I cannot be of more help  x minky

Dont worry, chances are once the extensions are out your hair will be fine.
Make sure you get them out professionally.

I had a client on friday that got her extensions done elsewhere, she said they were a bit matted and she wanted them out, i thaught ok no problem and planned an hour to do so. I hadnt seen them, and a lot of people i see get tiny knots above the bonds.
It took me 5 hours to get them out, but i was determined not to cut the poor girls hair. The knots were so bad, as big as my fist. I dont know how she managed to let them get so bad without doing anything.
She slept with conditioner in that night and said her hair is fine now. It just takes a lot of patience getting them out

I had hair extensions nearly 2 years ago - I looked after them well but unfortunately the lady that put them in for me (she traveled 100 miles to do them) just seemed to dissapear,I called several times for her to remove them but no reply...anyhow I went to my local salon and lucky for me they were more than happy to remove them for a small charge (£80 - bearing in mind it took them over 4 hours to remove them) my hair was not damaged and I felt at ease with them doing it..I had tried to remove them myself but with no luck!

Please please get them removed professionally!!
