Hi everyone :)

I would really appreciate some advice from anyone.
Basically I have always had a massive interest in the beauty industry, and I love anything to do with cosmetics/treatments/health.

So this year I was planning to enrol on a part-time course NVQ 2 Beauty Therapy. I've been waiting for a couple of years as I wasn't in a position before to enrol due to shift work.

I'm really having second thoughts now as i don't know if i can actually "do it" iykwim.

I obviously do my own nails/make up/false tan everything which always turns out well, but whenever I've painted someone elses nails/done their make up it always turns out abit...crap really:o

Do you think these kind of things can be learnt or is it vital to have a natural flair?

Its so frustrating as I am really enthusiastic and have always been soo passionate about it.

Don't worry about being harsh after all I'd rather have some honest answers now than further down the line.

I've been told I'm good at massages:sad:

Why the doubts??

If you do a good job on yourself then you can learn the techniques to do treatments on others.

A natural flair is an advantage and maybe you have it and don't know it yet.

The only thing that will make you fail is your own self doubt or lack of confidence. If you want it bad enough then do it.

Most people who become really excellent at what they do will tell you they never doubted for a single moment that they could do it with the right training and dedication to learning their skills.

These things can be learnt at first when i started my level 2 (coming to the end in June) i was nervous as i dident know what to expect but you see the difference is i dident have a flare i just done it as i needed to do something with my life now im the top rated student the things you will learn are very basic and they will teach you from the start fro example how to do a manicure, pedicure, waxing, facials, eye treatments.
so its all very basic and once you get into the swing you will be fine but you need to wanna learn to gain the knowledge at times it may be hard as you will be taking A&P learning about the human body such as bones, muscles etc but like i said if your will to knuckle down and study it will be a good choice.

Hope you find the answers your looking for

your skills will come with practice .. i nearly gave up makeup, as at first i found it really hard to apply on other people, yet it was always perfect on myself .. then after practicing like mad, it just "clicked" and i found the less i thought about what i was doing (and worrying about it) the more naturally the makeup flowed .. i now dont bat an eyelid (no pun intended!)

Too bad this poster has not revisited the site since being so desperate for the helpful and encouraging advice that has been given.
