Hi, im so embarrest as i did this last time i gave her a heated pedicure then polish/gems and off she went, text me later that day and said they had all come off polish aswell.
Anyway i came on here and asked advice and was told to do it the other way round polish first then then the lux pedi which iv done and its happened again, any clues anyone to how this has happened or where i am going wrong please?

Things like this can be very frustrating! I've never done a "reverse" pedicure with polish (unless I'm using gels or gel polish) so I wasn't

- before you put the polish on, did you ensure that the nail plates were free of oil, lotions, etc? (with a quick swipe of acetone or scrubfresh?)

- you said you did a heated pedicure... like with paraffin? You need to make sure all the paraffin is off the nails (sometimes it's hard to see!)

- I have one client who has these funny patches on her nails. The first coat would go on fine, but the second coat would pull the polish off the first coat, so she'd have naked patches. I'd never seen this before! I buffed the affected nails and still got a bit of it, but eventually I got the polish to stay on all ten nails. Weird!

Good luck - I hope you can find out what happened. Have you ever done this lady before?

I think you may have misunderstood advice. I would only do a pedicure in reverse when I am doing gel toes or l&p toes.

You will no doubt experience all kinds of problems if you are applying heated booties after applying the polish to the toes as the polish won't have set and would smudge.

Practice on a friend. Do your basic pedicure and put the booties on the client after you have applied moisturiser, leave on for c10mins, take the booties off, massage the remaining lotion into the feet, dehydrate the toe nails, apply polish/gems and finally top coat. Good luck!

when i went to college i was told that if i do a mani or pedi with a heat treatment its not recommed that you polish because heat treatments are treating the nails n cuticles. and polish dries the nails so it would be pointless doin a heat treatment.

Hi yes iv done the client before it only does it when i apply heat.
I forgot to mention i did the top layer in finishing high gloss gel to keep the polish n gems on longer.Iv done this with polish n gel for ages and have never had any problems what so ever.I thought i gave the nail a good clean off of all products but it looks like i havnt!
They did squeek so to speak, shall i give them just a bit more clean off do you think?

Bolding mine -

I think this is your problem right here - nail polish needs to be exposed to the air to dry properly. By using high gloss gel on top of it means it won't dry completely, and (as you've just seen!) will slide right off because it's still soft underneath. You've been lucky before, but it's generally not done because of this. I've heard some techs having luck putting the gloss on the next day, after the polish has dried 100%, but I understand that it's not meant for use on fresh polish.

Try using gel polish instead, or just find a really good top coat (Seche Vite is great!) that's meant for putting over regular polish.

If you've cleaned the nails til they squeak, they should be fine, but it's the gloss that's the problem :)

I can imagine your frustration! What polishes/base coats/top coats are you using?

I use CND's Stickey as a base and Speedey or Air Dry as a top. I usually use OPI or Essie for my polish. My pedi polish usually last 4 weeks or so.

Good luck! :)

I use CND products, I think the polish could not have been dry enough or some oil has come back up thorugh the nail plate. Might ask if she will have lux pedi on a seperate day to make sure next time. Thanks for ya advice guys x
