Hi

firstly can i say that unfortunately i was unable to make it up to Leeds to see the launch of Popits but for those of you who know about them do you feel that as a tech it is

a method that requires a DIFFERENT SKILL to the usual enhancement techniques?

or LESS OF A SKILL?

Look forward to hearing your replies!

best wishes

You still need all the skills that we have all been taught,
for a start you need to still get the mix ratio correct,
need to know how to fit a tip or form correctly (how many times do we get Q`s from new techs that struggle with this)
for a rebalance you still need the skill to file safely and efficiently,
you still need the eye of a tech to know how much product to use each time,
you still need to know how much time your product will set in,
we still need all our skills for lots of different reasons,
the only thing i can think of that is not needed is
ALL THAT DAMN FILING AND BUFFING lol

Hi Lou

Thanks for your reply!

lets hope repetitive strain injury will be a thing of the past soon then xxxxxx:)

I'm popping over to Leeds to have a look tomorrow, and I am really looking forward to the prospect of no final filing/buffing. I've just been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and have been worried that I may have to give up on nails as my condition progresses, but this new product sounds like it could be the best thing to happen for me given my condition.
Even if popits do mean that a certain element of skill will be lost, if it means I can still make a living from nails when my arthritis gets worse I honestly dont care, I have kids to feed and a mortgage to pay.

You still need all your skills as a nail tech, and you will always be able to use your artistry, YOU decide if you use this sytem a little or a lot - it will be used most of the time for some techs, some of the time for others and a few times only by yet others.

If it works for you when time and money is of the essence (which it is for the majority of clients, never mind techs!!!!) then.....FANTASTIC!

If it works for you when you have haven't QUITE mastered your finishing...then WONDERFUL!

If it works for you when you have to quickly squeeze in a repair between clients....then it WORKS for you!!!!!!!!!!

As for the financial side of things.........they cost about the same as tips but what you will save on your time, if you are mobile OR salon-based, will more than offset the outlay:)

I think you still need skill for these, i havent tried to do one yet and Gigi makes it look easy! But all i can say is the shine on them is WOW!!!!:)

Is it just L&P you can use these popits on or gel too?

Gel too! the gel looked more tricky for me but the results were lovely, i guess there will be tutorial soon!

I was gutted that I couldnt make it as it sounds like a wonderful new technique. I think that gigi will have made it look like anyone can do it but I can assure you that you will need the skills of a qualified nail tech to perform this treatment successfully. Also remember you will have these clients back for a rebalance so you can work your magic again then to amaze your customers.
