Hi guys,

Looking for your expert advice on a problem I think I may already have found the answer to, but thought Id run it past you all to be sure...

I did a set of gel extensions on a friend last week but within 3 days 3 of them had completely come off! I am using the NSI balance system. After thinking about it long and hard I realsied I applied the nail pure & primer to the entire of the natural nail before applying the tip. I have now realised that I should have used the nail pure and primer after tip application. Would this have caused the problem of the nails coming away so soon after?

She is coming back to me tonight to rectify the problem so need to know if what I am thinking is correct. If so think Id do best to remove the whole set and start over to avoid the rest coming off.

Thanks

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated as I cant seem to find any other possible causes for the problem??

Which tips did you use?

Did you use Pure Plus after you applied the tips aswell??

Or did you apply the gel straight to the nail?

I guess if you didnt cleanse the nail after tipping to remove dust & oils etc , then that would certainly not help the situation, but there could be lots of other factors that caused them to come off.

Nicola, nails that come off the whole nail bed were never on in the first place. Your gel has not bonded correctly.
This can happen for different reasons ... you know what they are ... insufficient prep ... insufficient dehydration of the plate .. lack of primer on the plate, lack of scrubbing the first layer of gel into the plate ... working too thick, product touching the skin, bulbs not curing the gel, using the wrong lamp with your gel. etc HTH

Thanks. I know my prep, dehydration & curing of the gel are not the problem as when Iv done overlays on natural nails I'm not having any problem. Just this lady with the tips. Last time I did her nails I used the same tips with a different system (The Edge) and they lasted really well. So the problem has arisen since using the same tips with the NSI system. Perhaps I need to get some new tips. I am using The Edge ultra Tips but also have some Millenium Salon Gold which I havn't yet tried. Have noticed so many people speaking highly of CND Performance tips but unsure as to whether I can purchase these without being CND trained yet?

I didnt cleanse the nail after tip application just blended, thinned and brush off. I will make sure I use the nail pure again next time. When would you usually use the NSI primer, before or after tip application. In my training I was shown to use beforehand, is this correct?

I apply primer after blending and I apply it over the natural nail and the tip, as shown on the nailangel website hth

On your profile it says you trained with The Edge and not with NSI ..so this could be your problem!

Maybe you should think about doing a conversion couse with NSI :)

I apply tips, (well less, for speed) blend if needed and make sure the shine is off the tip (and the natrual nail) then nail pure and when thats completely gone then prime, make sure you leave your primer for at least a minute or two before applying the balance gel.

I been using balance for a few months now and I'm really impressed with it, one thing I have learnt when using it is that you really have to make sure you cap well, I also always use my file from underneath the nail so the nat nail is always a fraction shorter than the overlay.

HTH

yep you gotta leave the primer a minute before applying gel with nsi system x

Our step-by-step instructions have you preping the nail with Nailpure Plus, applying the tip and then applying Balance Bond (allowing to dry for a minute prior to gel application), but that might not necessarily be your issue. May I ask what lamp you are using and what Balance gels you used on her?
