Hi

does anyone do parties for children? if so do you think its worth it and how much do you charge and what do they get for that?

i do these with the hairdressers and i really dont like doing them. i dont think its worth the money either. ours sort of work £10/£15 per child and i would get £4/£7 and do make up, nails and nail art.

last saturday we had a party in and i was only getting £4 per child that was going to last 1 hour and 5 children came (they were 8). but it lasted 1 hour 15mins as i had to wait for the hairdressers to finish with the last girl for me to do her nails and i had to turn a client away cos i didnt know what time id be finished the party at. but the girls were so cheeky, they touched everything in my room and wouldn't listen to me and basically left my room a mess.

I really like children but i dont like working with them and i hated turning clients away because of the party. i would rather have a potential client in that would maybe come back to me than a princess party that ill never see again.

does anyone think the way i do?

thanks for any in put

I hate doing them. I have four kids so its not as if i am not used to the little monkeys, but dear lord I cant stand it............

I dont find them lucrative either. the trick is to have something going on to keep the wee ones busy whilst you are painting nails....karoake or something.

I take my hat off to anyone who likes doing them..........

tigi

hiya i charge 12.50 per child and for that they get a mini manicure and nail art plus a goodie bag with nail polish nail file and 10% voucher inside, princess parties have been very popular with me and i quite enjoy doing them as the host of the party keeps the other kids ocupied and i just get sent one at a time, hope this helps a little x

Tigi, we're in the same boat lol :( i hate them too.

Indulgedriff, i have to split the money we charge with the hairdressers as they do their hair so im not getting as much as you. how long do you spend with each child? i think ill do that - have one child at a time. the mothers of the parties either stay down stairs or go home!! we dont really have anyone looking after them.

ill have to think of some ways to keep it controlled. do you think i should be spending 1 hr on these parties for £20, should i just be spending 30mins - 45mins instead?

I'm morally opposed to them anyway, so you wouldn't catch me doing them however much I could make!

I'm not a kid person, so I know I wouldn't enjoy them so i've never offered them.

If you haven't found it very lucrative and you dislike doing them, maybe try and focus on adult pamper parties instead. I always believe its part your own enthusiasm that sells your service and I can imagine how enthusiastic I would appear around a bunch of excited kids. lol

I was looking at setting up to do this. People seem to want party bags, the lot! For cheap. I decided not to do it. I'm a little bit ocd with germs and little kids hands are covered in them...so defo not for me! Could you imagine the head ache at the end of it???!!! xxx

i spend roughly 15/20 mins with each child, i do it mobile so there always at least one parent which is good so i can just concentrate on my job

head ache is the word, no sooner than you have painted their nails, they need the loo........... i told jodie if she ever booked in another party, id kill her with my own bare hands...........

I must be in the minority when it comes to children's pamper parties, lol.

We've booked a few through my salon website & I've found them to be quite lucrative + I enjoy doing them so I've recently started a seperate business concentrating on the children's parties.

I'm going on a course on saturday to learn how to make bath bombs & other smellies so that will be another party option, as there will always be some mums who don't approve of their little ones wearing nail varnish & make up.

I go out to the party girls house, the salon is too small to have loads of girls in at once. I take along other things for the girls to be doing while they're waiting for their pampering.

Sarah, you brave but insane lady..........good luck with the bath bomb course!

:lol::lol: & thanks about the course. I'm helping out at Brownies tomorrow & showing them how to make basic bombs & bath salts. Will feel more confident after I've done the course though!!
