Problem with adhesive not adhering!!!

Hi geeks, I'm hoping some of you experienced lashers could give me some input.

I've had a nightmare trying to do a set of lashes tonight, I have done some on the same friend previously and we were both really pleased with them, she was coming for fills, but to be honest there weren't many left and they weren't looking too good so I removed them. I had someone else booked in so she agreed to come back later so we had time to put a set on. I told her to give her lashes a good clean with make up remover to get rid of any last traces of adhesive or mascara etc. which she did.

Well the adhesive just didn't seem to be coating the lashes properly.....it's difficult to describe but it was as though it was just sitting on the lash in a bubble.
I'd eventually get a lash on, then go do the other eye, come back and it would fall off....it didn't seem to be coating the lashes at all and wasn't drying??

Now I did prime the lashes but I'm wondering if this maybe wasn't sufficient to remove all traces of the oils from the makeup remover.......would this explain the problem, I did try another brand of adhesive and both did the same.

Any other ideas???

She's coming back tomorrow for us to have another try!!!

Was the remover oil free? I usually suggest that clients give eyelashes a proper wash before coming, as using remover may leave oily residue. When clients come, even if the eyelashes look super clean - I would still clean them with oil free make-up remover to remover any invisible barrier. Ask her to come with eyelashes washed in water - I think that would solve the problem :hug:
