Hi all

I'm just starting mobile beauty after being out of the loop since july last year. I am doing lots of practicing to get my skills back up so hopefully by the end of april will be able to offer mobile work officially.

I have searched through threads about these questions, and yes there are some answers but they are getting quite old now so are not really helpful for now.

I have a Massage Couch and a Wax Pot (about to purchase roller wax). I need to purchase a decent case. I've read that people use B&Q ones but I think that they look a bit unprofessional. What other ones do people use, how much and where are they from. I'm wondering about needing a manicure table and a stool, and also whether I need a foot stool but yet again do not know what ones to buy?

I am offering manicure, pedicure, waxing and massage. I will offer acrylic and gel, however acrylics I'm still really practicing and gels I am saving up to do the calgel course as I'm not happy with The Edge that I use at the moment. I will offer facials and am looking into ranges, but am not desperate for that yet!

With that I'm curious, when performing pedicures, shall I get my client to sit on there sofa, while I am on the floor, or do you recommend getting a foot rest as well!

What manicure and pedicure ranges do everyone use. I trained using salon systems but would like to use a better one, although this will do for the moment. What polishes do everyone use?

I hope you don't mind all the questions but I am new to mobile work and am not quite sure about it, and don't want to spend too much money. I am a mummy to two boys which is why I'm going the mobile route rather than a salon.

Well hello and welcome to the mobile world I find it fun and hope you do too anyway I do have the B&Q boxes as well as the Wickes ones I must admit they did look unprofessional until I started to decorate mine with pictures that is on my L & P one and Gel one I have pictures of Nails and designs which look good on the Facial one I have Facial pictures etc it also depends on how much room you have in your car or van I use a stool and also take a stool for the client when doing nails. If I am doing pedicure I take a little foot stool (its really a plastic step that you use to access the high cupboard in the kitchen) but ideal. I also take my couch with me you can pick up a wheelie trolley for under a tenner in one of the catalogues not sure which one I got it from saw it at the show.

Hope that helps

Yvonne

I have to say I didn't think about decorating it the boxes, that is a good idea! I have a bag on wheels for my couch so thats ok!

I bought my case from beauty express(its a silver one)i have since looked in B&Q and the silver cases they sell are extremely similar to mine.I dont think they look unprofessional if you get the silver ones.
I just have a light weight couch and when doing manicures work across the clients table and use her chairs.I check when they are booking that they have a table i can use and on occasions use my couch to work across.
Usually with Pedicures i let them sit where ever is comfortable for them(usually a sofa) and ask to use a chair or stool they may have handy.
I use Skin Truth Manicure and Pedicure products that are inexpensive but fairly good quality products.Beauty Express also do a range of nail colours that i use that ive found are good called Nail Essentials.
I also do mobile part time as i have a 2 year old little girl.Good luck with it hun xxx

I didn't know B&Q did silver cases, I didn't see them on the internet, will have to go and have a look in one of the big shops. Thanks for that. I'm starting mobile for the same reason as you, I have two little boys so this way I can work around them. Although I don't think my partner will allow me to work all evenings and weekends, so will attempt to do one or two days as well if I get enough money to pay for a childminder. At the moment I am using a mixture of salon professional and hive for manicure and a range called heel to two for the pedicure, but would like to have one range for both, rather than lots of different ones. With nail polish I have a mixture of OPI and attitude, but I'm not too sure what I think of attitude at the moment, and cannot afford to extend my range of OPI (I only have 4). I may give that one a go! How many nail polishes does everyone have, I didn't want to get a whole range until I find one I really like.

Its really quite difficult setting this up, the more I look into it, so I really appreciate all your help!

hi when I am mobile I have a portable manicure table and bought 2 black folding chairs from argos. for pedicure I let the clients sit in their own chair and I use a portable pedicure station which is lite and easy to store. I use salon system products for manicure and pedicure. I use china glaze for nail polishes as well as opi.

If I do a pedicure - I get the client to sit on a sofa and put loads of cushions behind her to make her more comfortable.

They usually want to fall asleep - which I can imagine if your sitting on your favourite sofa/chair getting your legs massaged.

I just sit on an ordinary chair.
