Hi

I'm going to put a poster up with an offer for an express facial.

My express facial is double cleanse, exfoliate, mask, tone, moisturise and eye gel. its 30 mins

I'd like to add a mini massage into it so that people can get an introduction to a facial and what the facial massage would be like. it might even last 40 mins but as its an offer i hope it would be worth it and hopefully they'd book in again for the full facial massage

Do you do a face, neck and shoulder massage or do you do a mini routine on the face?

Hi, if you are adding 10 minutes to the routine to take in a facial massage, then there would be time to do a neck and shoulder massage as well. The shoulders are a lovely massage for the client and it helps to reduce stress in the area. I start with the shoulders, and chest (platysma) and then move on the neck and then up to the face. You can't be too detailed in 10 minutes but it would be a nice add-on to the cleanse routine.

why not do a scalp massage whilst the mask is on that way you don't need to add on any more time.
I did this on a pamper party where I only had 30 minutes for a mini facial and every1 said how lovely it was.

hi

i've never done a scalp massage before. we didn't get that at college

is it something i could learn off the internet/geeks

I trained in indian head massage and some of the facial training I have done in the past have included a scalp massage. Otherwise include a hand and arm massage whilst the mask is on.

there are lots of videos on you tube of head massage, its quite an easy technique to learn x

Or rather than trying to cram in face, neck and shoulders, why not do a 10 minute lymphatic drainage type massage just on the face - concentrating around eyes and forehead especially and a little around the jawline.
I also like someone's idea of the scalp massage whilst the masque is on. We do that during one of our facials and people love it.

it would be good to do scalp massage. i always feel a bit of a spare part just standing there whilst the mask is on

i normally clean up a bit and get fresh water but don't know if that makes the person feel weird

when i was at college i wasn't really that fussed about what was going on, i was normally asleep by the time the mask went on!!!

kezza: what sort of things do you do in a scalp massage?

Although an express treatment is a taster of sorts, what you don't want is for it to become a full facial in less time as it devalues the full treatment. It's better not to include a face massage & explain that this would be one of the many extras they would get in the full facial, thus giving them a reason to upscale.

As other have said you could always offer a scalp or arm & hand massage whilst the mask is on. I personally offer a hand & arm massage during the mask as a lot of people can be put off by the thought of having their hair messed up. Of course, you could always give them the option to choose hand/arm or scalp!

I agree with Martin,

I would offer hand/arm or scalp. You might find that they go for the scalp most of the time but the option would be there.

If you PM me your email I will scan and send you some info on indian head massage moves that you could try out on folk.

I agree with Martin , you have to be carefull you don't give too much in an express facial otherwise the clients wonder why the should be paying more money when they are getting so much , so you end up having people stuck on express facial. I know its happened to me:)

I think we've all been guilty at some point of trying to fit more than we should into a treatment to please the client, but as you say the problem is they come to expect it & then it's very difficult to get them to upscale!

why not do a pressure point massage on the face whilst the mask in on?
I often do that.
