Recommendations for Learning French

has anyone learnt any languages by using cds at home ? im looking more specifically at french, was it easy and do ? you have any recommendations for beginner packs / audio?

this isnt for me, it would be a gift for someone

The best one I've come across is this one Michel Thomas Foundation Course: French Michel Thomas Series: Amazon.co.uk: Michel Thomas: Books
It gives you a really good, quick basic understanding of French, and there's an advanced one as well if you want to go further.

I bought the Rosetta Stone collection for French. Its amazing and gives you hundreds of hours of immersion French. It is really, really good.
