I have come accross an advert listed on a local advertising website.

a guy is offereing to pay for a Reiki course in exchnage for someone helping him out every Fri night at a community centre (offering reiki i am guessing?!)

He has put at the bottom.....
"Reiki 1 = £10
Reiki 2 = £20"

What do you think? does it sound ligitimate and is reiki something worth knowing how to do? Admittidally i didnt know much about it and have done a little research and now wondered what other geeks thought.

He is also offering to pay for Seichem.... (i have no idea what this is, maybe some geeks can shed some light!)

Thanks All
xx

Hey there,
I would be very wary. Sounds way to cheap to me. I am not trained in reiki but am going to be soon because I think it is a good treatment to compliment holistic therapy. A friend of my mums is a psychic healer but also a reiki master. She teaches all over the world. I know her prices are very reasonable.
Reiki 1 - £80
Reiki 2 - £90 (you need this to be able to practice reiki)
Reiki masters - £105 (this enables you to teach reiki)
If you are interested in doing this or just having a look for some info, I can PM you her details and website then you can have a look for yourself?

I paid £90 for reiki 1 and £150 for reiki 2, I would expect to pay £300 for masters.

What I think this man is offering, is for you to be his apprentice and work alongside him and he will train you.

thats my take on it.

I would ring and have a chat, find out how much 'help' he is wanting for the training.

Thanks Gemini & Hippy chick for your responses.

I went to see the guy on Friday night at the community centre. It turns out he is a Reiki Master and he will put me through Reiki 1 (2days) and Reiki 2 (once ready) and in return i will go and work along side the other Therapists whilst doing Reiki 1 each fri night at the community centre. The £10 for Reiki one is for my manual and certificate and the same for the £20 for Reiki 2.

Each person that comes into the community centre has a treatment and donates just £3.50 which then goes on the costs of the room hire, refreshments and therapist training. The guy has informed me that if i go in to do Reiki 2 I can book out a seperate room and work on people for a higher rate or do it privately.

I have enquired about Indian Head Massage and Reflexology also and this is something he would be interested in looking into. He just wants commitment from people for the Friday nights at the community centre.

So far I'm thinking this is a good opportunity?

Sounds like a good opportunity to me but check who his training is accredited with and then contact that company to double check, hth
