Had light ash blonde and medium ash blonde on a mousy base.

But needed roots done, and wanted to add gloss so asked for dark blonde ash lowlights to take it down a shade.

But my hair is dark and you can neither describe it as blonde or brown.
What methods can I use to strip the hair (both at home and in salon) to lift out the lowlights?

I presume they are semi/demi permanent salons use? I can see the ashy blonde veiled in the hair.

I've heard of using detergent (liquid) gently in hair and excess conditioning, or using clarfying shampoos no more than twice a week.
Also I'm aware bleached hair is more porous but shouldn't that mean it should let go of the colour eventually?
