I've been practicing with my new cnd kit using Retention+ but am finding it slower to work with than I'm used to so wondered about trying Moxie instead as this has a faster cure time. I'm now happy with my mix ratio but if I try to work before the bead is really ready I still get lots of bubbles (only with the translucent powders) and I get a bit impatient  Do I need to use a different brush though? I know it is advisable with different brands, but can I use the same brush with all 3 of the cnd liquids? I just can't afford another new brush at this time :|

Cheers,
Hazel

Yes, you will need a different brush for each liquid... You don't want to contaminate your liquids by using the same brush... HTH :)

I'm not sure about this....I am a gel girl so could be way off track but I thought it was ok to use the same brush as long as you cleaned it with new monomer and then tipped that away before each use...?

Didn't someone ask Roxanne this last weekend? I thought she said she would advise a different brush if you are going to switch regularly...ie several times a week, but its not a complete no no on an occasional basis as long as you really cleanse and prime your brush in monomer, wipe and resoak.

Thats what i thought she said too...xx

Yep, that's what I picked up too xx

Thanks all, I think I'll brave a go with Moxie and see if I can work with it.

I still have it in my mind that maybe my ratio might be a tad on the wet side but it's difficult to get any more powder on the brush and still have it all absorbed by the end of 'going going gone'. The bead seems quite firm and dimpled iykwim when I place on the nail but I seem to have to wait forever for it to settle before working. If I try to work too soon I end up with lots of bubbles. I don't have the problem at all with opaque powders so everything seemed fine when I was at the Event. Typical - just when you want things to go wrong so they can be sorted, they don't :irked:

Try placing your bead on a tip like we did last weekend. Watch for it to dome out slightly - if there is a ring of liquid around the 'dome'/bead, then you are working too wet.
Dip your pro styler down into your dappen dish, make sure it's fully immersed and rock a little to dispell any bubbles already in the brush then draw up one side then turn and draw up the otherside of the brush along the side of the dish - beware you are not re-dipping your brush when you try to swipe it on the edge of the dish a second time, don't let the flags go back into the monomer, when moving to draw your brush for the 2nd time. This is based on using a cnd pro styler.
Then, dip your brush flags into your powder, count 1-2-3-4 then lift out, say in your head - going, going, gone and place the bead, watch what it does.
Rox did say that it was ok to use your brush in other CND liquids as long as you clean it out properly.
The contamination thing comes when you use say CND monomer & Ezflow monomer with the same brush.

Still can't help thinking about FemFresh!!:hug:

I had several phone convesations with Mrs Geek about this, she confered with Samuel in between our calls :D The upshot is ,as a one off given a very good swill and burp your brush will come to no harm allthough from the horses mouth it is not advised to swap and change and one brush per monomer. hth's

Got a better one than that - our local bus company used to be called 'Potteries Motor Traction' and had the letters PMT emblazoned across all their buses

Btw, I'm doing all the usual with my beads. The thing I notice that doesn't quite look right is that the bead looks medium wet. When I sit back to let it settle it seems to take ages to 'relax' and still looks too domed as if it is dry. A few more seconds and it relaxes too much and starts to look a bit wet around the outer edge and flattens too much. It's quite strange to watch it happen. You have to pick a time inbetween to start working the bead. I just wish there was someone local to me who could help me out with this as I just can't afford any more training till next year. Especially as I only seem to have the problem with the translucent powders.

Cheers,
Hazel

I find that I have to work differently with clear powders (pink and clear) to the opaque powders... I've put it down to the higher amount of white in the opaque powders as opposed to the clear ones. Alter your ratio slightly and you should be fine. I find a medium wet bead is fine with opaques but too wet with the clear powders... hey ho, we'll get there in the end

Yes, I've been using clear tonight and I'm finding it more difficult to work with. Now I've got my ratio right with the white and the cover pnk, the clear is far too wet when I'm working with it. I keep trying to go drier, but then find I haven't quite gone dry enough. Will keep experimenting.... LOL xx
