Salon and academy business help!

Hi guys!
Long story short, Iv had my hair salon for almost 4 years, Iv recently passed my Level 3 Award in Education and Training and I am in the process of getting my courses accredited.
My question is -is it best to register the academy as a separate business to HMRC? To keep income and expenses separate to the salon? I have a 2 floor building and will be having the salon (SNM Hair) downstairs and the academy upstairs with a separate entrance (SNM Education).
Any help would be hugely appreciated!!

Yes definitely. We looked to register the retail side of our business as separate to the treatments to try and avoid the dreaded vat, but we couldn’t as they’re so linked but my educations side is a different business to my treatments and retail side of the business.
