Proving it’s a company with a big heart, Salonwear Direct, one of the UK’s leading professional uniform supplier has raised a substantial figure for charity.

To do this it teamed up with a local charity near its offices in Leeds called The Haven. With their help they created a new tunic designed with a pink trim and pink heart ribbon logo. From every sale £2 was donated to the fund, which supports breast cancer patients.

The Haven, a trio of centres in London, Hereford and Yorkshire, offers a free specialised programme for anyone affected by breast cancer. The programme includes counselling, complementary therapies, emotional support and information to meet the physical and emotional needs of people affected by breast cancer before, during and after treatment. In Yorkshire alone, almost 5,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year.

“Everyone who has seen this tunic loves it - the pink embroidered ribbon looks chic and has such a positive meaning behind it,” says Ilan Sherman, MD of Salonwear Direct. “We knew that our Haven tunic would be popular with our customers, but the response has still surprised us! The tunic will continue to be featured in our catalogue into 2011, so we look forward to donating more money to The Haven next year.”

He added: “Breast cancer is a cause close to so many people’s hearts and so we are delighted to be supporting The Haven and helping them to continue with their vital work.”
