Hi all,,I was wandering what methos everyone uses when sculpting or overlaying on a tip with the same colour powder. I use both CND forms and mostly velocity tips, depending on clients natural nails. I Have only been asked fro forever french look, although I was going to put a set of tips on myself tomorrow (if I get chance ha ha) but was either wanting to use coloured acrylic over whole nail, or just use intense pink, but would I start in zone 3 as normal?? or has anyone got any handy tips.

Also I have an opaque pink powder CND one and tried that yesterday, but got confused (dont take much ha) I applied zone 1 whit tip, then used a bead of opaque pink and butted up to zone 1,,now what do I use for zone 3?? as surely this will be taken over my zone 1 slightly and as the pink is opaque my white would look funny would it not???? or is that me being silly.

Thanks Geeks xxx

It is normal to start with Zone 1. even if I am just using one colour .. which is the CND method of teaching.

If you didn't go over zone 1 with your zone 2 bead and butted up to it, then why would you go over zone 1 with your zone 3 bead??? The answer is DON'T pull any of your opaque beads over zone one and if you find you are dong, then swipe it off and remove it.

Thanks Geeg, I was taught to but up zone 2, and zone 3 should be pulled over (not right words sorry) zone 2 and 1, but was only taught using sheer powders not opaque. So when using opaque pink in 2 and 3 I should not go over zone 1,, would I need to apply clear over the whole nail. Sorry to waffle I just can't get my head around leaving zone 1,,iygwim ha ha xxx

No you do not need to apply clear over the whole nail when using the opaque powders. You do not need to apply clear at all when using opaque coverage powders.

CND do not teach to pull zone 3 over the whole nail even with the sheer powders. You DO pull it a little over the thin edge of zone 2 but certainly not over zone 1. Why would you?

Have a look at my tutorials here on the site re zone 1 2 and 3 also check out the spot light application videos on CND.com which are outstanding for learning technique. Or you can purchase a copy of my book 'nailclass' that many techs tell me has helped them enormously. It is available from Sweet Squared and at a very reasonable price too.
