HI i have stylists in my salon working on a 60/40 split (60 to me) idont charge for any stock and have the service of the credit card machine and my junior staff . should i really be doing 50/50 and charging stock not sure if im doing it right

Hi,

I can't comment on the percentage split, but if you're not yet VAT registered you don't want to let self employed stylists putting their takings through your till or PDQ

I have one self-employed stylist. We do a 50/50 split, she pays for her own chemical products and insurance. I probably still lose out. I would never have a self-employed stylist again, a rookie mistake from when I first opened my salon. The rest are employed.
