:DHello ladies, Could any of you please tell me your experiences of semi permanent eyelash extension training?
eg who you used the quality of training and also after... how many case studies how long to get qualification through

Avoid the 1 day courses.

i did my lash training with flirties.

it was from around 10.30am to 3.30pm and it was arranged super quick, no waiting around weeks for a place to become available which is just what you want when you get an idea in your head of course :D the cost included kit and training, though i had to pay a seperate fuel charge. my kit arrived very quickly (though there were lashes that had spilled out due to a container being opened - not a huge problem obviously but still, and i had 1 piece of equipment missing but my trainer phoned up and it was sorted out straight away, fuss free). the customer service i have always thought was fabulous, everybody is polite and helpful and delieveries have always arrived well packaged. the marketing leaflets are free which i absolutely love though apparently they are changing the look of it! :o though i hope not too much as i loved the fact that all the marketing looked young and funky - i didn't want an high end image, i wanted me and what i offered to come across as fresh and young :D you also get a marketing booklet and a training booklet in your pack aswell as a folder and a pen (these sound like such basics but honest to god it is so wonderful to actually have everything you need in 1 pack so that you don't have to make sure you've got this that and the other you really are all set to go with your box and file! it's a really lovely touch in my opinion :D) which are both fab as you can have a read through them and get an idea about the lashes and application etc before you do your training, my trainer read out what was in the book so it'd be good to have a read through so that you can follow what is being said and have any questions ready if you choose to go with flirties :D

as far as the training goes hmmm there was a big post about the training the other day, i said i felt lost and like it was a bit of a waste as i didn't know where to put what kind of lash etc etc to achieve different effects and was advised that i could book on an advanced course (not with flirties) as the training was just to show you how to build a frame (your 1st few lashes on each eye so that you can then go inbtween them with other lashes then inbetween them from what i was told on my training) and my trainer seen my post and emailed me info about what to put where etc which was wonderful :D so i felt far better about the training as i knew there was a base to work from then to achieve a certain look and i didn't feel like i was just let free on the world to try and get case studies kwim? so i def think that info like that should be added to the training. does that make sense?

you read alot of posts on here about lash glue being rubbish and too this and too that and i must say i am completely happy with flirties normal drying glue - i haven't struggled with it at all and have no plans to change.

i was told 4 case studies would be needed, though i am still working on that so i can't tell you how long it will take to come through and the company seem pretty reliable and efficient so can't imagine it would take too long.

so all in all i think that the training was ok (it did the job i guess) and the rest has been great :D i'm happy with who i chose and have no plans to change :)

reguardless of who you go with always do your own research (what you like another might not), email/phone companies, do a search on here for that brand to see what other peoples experiences are like with them, the products and customer service, see how much the products are, what the marketing is like and the cost of marketing, what you get in your starter kit etc. and most importantly make sure that on completion that you will be able to get insurance! :D

Nice write up, OMG, they boast of good training and they run a course from 10.30 to 3.30, its not good.

Look out for something that does.

Give you a big home study pack

Gives you a full days training, them makes you come back on another day in the future and refreshes you and then tests you, and possibly fails or passes you.

Then you practice practce practice

Running this day stuff is cra* and that produces 99% of rubbish lashers who think they are good, damaging peoples lashes and all manor of this I see on a daily basis, no wonder why they are all so cheap.

i didn't mean for it to turn into an essay, sorry! but if people ask i'm all for telling them the truth and being honest with them. at the end of the day nobody has got anything to gain from not being honest and completely upfront.

i know the company that does the lvl lash thingy ma bob (forgot the name of it) offers training on different levels (a few things on the higher course though my flirties trainer/training booklet recomended that you don't do the diamante lashes and the bottom lash extensions *shrug*) but i'm sure both them courses are for 1 day too. i don't think i seen anywhere when i was looking to be honest that offered more than 1 days training. i chose not to go with the lvl company because i didn't want that whole posh high end look, i wanted something more fun. there's alot to decide about isn't there when choosing a course, not just how long it is. my trainer was great though when she read my message on here about feeling lost she sent me an email full of info about different lashes for where etc so that really did make up for the feelings i had about the training. though of course there's alot you have to learn yourself and research yourself after courses. x

Well i've actually experienced 3 lots of eyelash extension training. I've done group training, 1-1 training and i was also trained on a trainers 'training day'.
If you read through some of my blogs (you might have to wade through them a bit), you can see how i got on.
All 3 were one day courses.
My first training was group training. I came out of that course having stuck 10 lashes on a dummy head and about 5 lashes per eye on a model. I felt the training was extremely poor and, in fact, it was the worst course i've ever been on. We were more or less left to our own devices and i was so frustrated, i was nearly in tears. I did complain though, which is where i feel a lot of people slip up. If you're not happy then you must complain. I paid a lot of money for this training as it was a top company and i was so disappointed. I had to play my face a bit, but i did get 1-1 training at my salon. Now this training, from the same company, was probably the best course i've ever done. The girl who trained me was lovely and taught me more in 30 mins than i had from the previous course.
Then i had to do 8 case studies and take photographic evidence and then go back for assessment.
I went back for the assessment and was shocked to find that they didn't even have the proper stools to sit on! We were given normal chairs to sit on, which were taken from the main table. The chairs were far too low and i couldn't see what i was doing. In the end, i was given a cushion from the settee to sit on. Now by a cushion, i mean one of the huge cushions that you actually sit on from a leather settee, ones that actually make up part of the settee! Very unprofessional and incredibly frustrating.
I was told i had passed but i had to send my portfolio on before i would get my certificate. I actually got my certificate before i had had chance to post my portfolio, so they never saw it!
So from the same company, i had the best and the worst training.
When i had my next training on the 'trainers day', it was better than my original training from a big company. What did concern me with this training was that some of the people being trained had not long been lashing themselves. They were all lovely and everything but i was just a bit shocked at how soon you could become a trainer. This may well be the norm, i was just a bit shocked that's all. Also the trainees were given test sheets with questions on and they didn't know all the answers. Well if you're parting with your hard earned money, then you want your trainer to know everything.
These are just my observations.
So, my advice to you, if you want to book a course is;
1-Ask how many people will be on the course
2-Ask how long the trainer has been doing it
3-Ask if you need to go back for an assessment
4-Ask if you will need to do case studies
5-Don't assume the more expensive courses are the best
6-Draw up a shortlist and then ask people on here of their experiences of a company
7-Get recommendations from people who have done the course and not from someone associated with that company.
Sorry for the essay-lol

Thankyou for these replys, i really do appreciate them. The problem is i cant find a course thats 1day++ its so frustrating.
Since deciding on this path i want to learn and that bit feels great! The more i read the more i think wow i could learn how to do this :)

Hi

The training day is basically to show you the correct and safe way to attach lash extensions. The main thing about learning eyelash extensions is the amount of practice time after your course you put in. The more you do, the better you will get and the more confident you will be.

It is simply practice, practice and more practice! Find as many friends/family as you can and just keep practising. When you run out of friends you have lashed, go back to the originals and either remove and start again or practice infills on them.

I know I personally did about 12-20 hours per week practice for about 3 months before I went public and started charging. (I am lucky - I have 6 sisters who were willing models!) Lashes are not a quick thing to learn, you need to put a lot of effort into it and for a time, it will seem like you are getting nowhere. Then suddenly, you will realise your speed has increased and you are getting more lashes on.

If you feel yourself struggling after your training, contact your trainer. They are there to help you and can give you guidance and advice, and further tips on seperation techniques that will help you get more lashes on.

Good luck with whatever training you decide to do!

Where did you do your training Sue? I would have loved to have done training that was more than a day long but couldn't find anywhere. Could you let us all know who does these courses, that would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance!! :D:D

I trained many years ago before they came to the uk, this was very strict, and was over 2 days. Then we had to return for testing 4 weeks later.

I do not use Nouveau, but I know they do a similar (I feel correct)
system, where you study and return at a later date for testing.

Graduate Level - Nouveau Lashes, lash extensions, eyelash extensions, semi permanent lash extensions

All the other bit part courses need to get a grip.

i did the marvel 1 day course !!! ermm i sorta trained myself after witnessing howit was done . we practiced on a hairdressing head! wth fake lashes for an hour. then we took turns on ourselves. no patch testing was done prior.. i managed to get 10 lashes on a real person.. whhooo ho i was trained NOT >???/// Ive heard flirties is the one to go with the aftercare is ment to be good. Marvel. ive had no contact since.... i now ue he eyelash emporium who are great and you can ring ask questions etc... :D:D

I did my training with Flirties. We started at 10 and finished at 615 in the evening with 20 mins for lunch. We have 4 case studies to complete with photographic evidence and each one is assessed individually so you don't do your next case until you have had your last one assessed. We were told we could go back at any time and cover anything we were not sure of or if we wanted more practice.

I did look at the Noveau course and researched it on here but didn't find many people who were happy with it so decided on Flirties.

I must say that I was totally pleased with the course and with the availability of the trainer, Luisa, whenever I need her.

My friend, however did another course a week later. She had no previous experience at all, passed on the day with no case studies to do. I was quite shocked by this as she was charging full price after one more practice and within 2 days of doing the course!

I think until there is proper control over courses and qualifications in this country we will always have the availability of courses that do not meet the minimum, sensible requirements. :D

everybody who has had Luisa for training has said how fabulous she is, i'm always reading posts that name drop her! she def seems like the person to try and get your training with! :D

how do you mean case studies with evidence? i thought the case studies/evidence was just the 4 pictures? that's what i understood it to mean? oh my god please don't tell me i've been doing it wrong :\ i didn't know about what you said about case studies either, i was told to send off 4 pictures - nothing about 1 picture at a time to be checked before moving on to the next. no joke, as my posts on here show i have been going crazy trying to practise on my boyfriend so that i will be able to apply a fullset (well as full as i can possibly get) to other people with confidence for pictures to show that i can apply lashes in the correct place and that they are even across the eye and on each eye proper rushing around with the 3month date you get to sumbit your pictures. i am so confused :\

Sending photos in? why not get real people back and be assessed, be tested!

Come back and be tested on another day, You asked me what I new and I told you, then you say the UK leading training provider had bad press on the training, I dont like the products and dont use them (3D) but Flirties is like not comparable
