How silly that so many are buying Shellac but not the one thing that guarantees the success of the system ... the CND UV lamp. No other lamp that I am aware of will guarantee that Shellac will perform as it should.

Totally agree. The curing is so important and must be done with the correct lamp. :D

Ok so I agree with all of the above comments but the promplem I now have is that when I brought my shallac kit from sweet squared nothing was said about needing the CND lamp and being a beauty therapist not a nail tech I know very little about uv lamp so I just asumed as nothing about needing the Cnd lamp was said to me that all uv lamps were the same so I went to capital and brought one that I canot take back now. I brought the start up kit under the impresion that it comes with everything required for the product to work sucsesfully do now I don't know wot to do as can't afored to buy another lamp. X x

The Shellac kit is marketed as a 'Salon Rack' (as opposed to a 'kit') and being as it's a UV cured product being sold solely to professionals I wouldn't expect to be asked if I needed the lamp to go with the products.

To achieve a complete cure of the product you'll need to have the correct UV lamp.
If you haven't used the new lamp you got surely you should be able to return it for a refund, especially if you explained that you bought it by mistake.

I bought my shallac salon rack from the sweet squared website there was no mention on that of needing that specific lamp do did not think to ask as wen I brought the minx kit it had all the equipment I needed in it do thought this would be the same it shouldn't be being sold with out the lamp realy and I have used my lamp and it seems to be curing but nite not last the full 2 weeks and I no longer have the box so doubt they will take it back had I known it was so important to have the cnd lamp I would have brought it. But like I said it wasn't mentioned when I broughtvit all I knew was I needed one.

Sorry, but really there have been more than enough threads on here about Shellac that explain about the light.

I would have thought that the price of the salon rack would have given you enough details to realise the light was not included.

It's a little anoying the way a few people are saying u should be using the lamp ur supposed to use if a was never told I have to use the cnd lamp how would I know I am supposed to be using it I think the way the website is set out it leads u to belive buying it is an option wen really it is a nasesity for the product to work properly I think it's a bit misleading I'm really not a stupid person or the sort to cut cornners it was just not very clear. The one and only reason I didn't bye the cnd one was because the other equipment on my manicure table are from daylight company and I like things that match. X the minx lamp is daylight company so didn't think there would be a problem. X

Yes I knew I'd didn't come with the lamp but it didn't say that I needed the cnd lamp so brought a differnt one as a beauty therapist that had never had to buy a uv lamp beforevi did not no there were differnt strenths of them and ad there was no mention of wot lamp I should have I didint think it would be s problem I'm affraid I do not come on hear as much ad I should with a busy salon to run so had only read a few posts about shallac none of wich mentioned the type of lamp needed only that if u can paint a nail u can use shallac. X

If I didn't know anything abou nails and hadn't read on here that I needed the CND lamp I would have spoke to Sweet Squared before ordering. I'm sure they have online help.

I'm not saying I know nothing about nails I said I didn't no there was different types of lamps and thought if it was an important issue it would say do on website y would I ask for help it never evan crossed my mind the lamps let out differnt types of uv strenths or i would have found the time to ring for help well it seams I'm getting no were with this conversation I come on hear for help and just getcMade to feel stupid for making a mistake and I already feel silly enough for wasting £80 the problem with thus site is alotcof people think there beret than everone else there not here to help people there hear to out do people !!

I am sorry that you feel you have been let down or feel mislead..... but I honestly think that we as Therapists and Nail Technicians are responsible for buying the correct equiptment...if you order, say for instance the PHD roller wax system refills, they wont ask you if you have the actual wax warmer, they will assume that you already have the necessary equipment to house the wax tubes and are ready to go....when I introduce something new to the salon, I ask all sorts of questions as to how does it work and what will I need..... Not the answer you where probably hoping for but, if your UV Lamp is still boxed and unused and you have a receipt you can take it back..... and then order the CND lamp that goes with the CND Shellac system....
I hope you get it all sorted out, I got the Shellac colours before I got my CND lamp, couldn't wait to try it on myself and yes it looked great finished but it peeled withing a few days and I knew that there was no way it would be OK to offer it as a reliable service to mu clients until I got the right lamp to do a lasting job.......
Hope you get it sorted huni xxxx

I get ur point but if u have been trained to use wax u would also have knowlege of the equipment required to heat the wax and u cant buy wax with out this training I have not had to go on training to bye shallac so more info should have been given to me I should not have to ask a question that I would not no to ask I should have Been told wot I needed or it be composary that I attend training beforevi bye I don't think it is to hard for sweet squared to simply write on there website that the cnd lamp is the only one that can be used to stop confusen the website does imply that the cnd lamp is an option it evan had it's own page separet from shallac as well as on the shallac website making it seam more like an option to buy wen it is not. It is needed. And I cannot take my lamp back as it has been used severl times and no longer has a box so I'm a bit stuffed realy. Bye a new product to help business and now it's all a wast of money as o can use it till I save another £100. X

If I was trained in waxing and I was buying a different heater to the one I currently had I would research it before buying it.

I'm sorry that you ended up buying the wrong lamp but you've been on this site since Sep 2008. Did you not read any of the Shellac threads?

I had a Daylight UV lamp in perfect working order and less than a year old. As soon as I heard about Shellac I had to have t. I was going to use the lamp I had but then I read the many Shellac threads and realised I had to buy the CND lamp for Shellac to cure properly.

Sorry to hijack, I would love this treatment. Any ladies/guys do it near rugby?/ coventry?

many thanks thats just down the road :D

This is going to go down like a sack of the proverbial... but here goes...!

You are the therapist, it's up to you to find out as much information as possible about a treatment you are wanting to offer to your clients.
If you have questions then ask your distributor (regardless of which products you're interested in investing in), but whatever you do don't start blaming them and passing the buck simply because you didn't find out the full facts before ordering.

We are professionals, we are supposed to be knowledgeable about the products we're using and if we can't find out whether we need to buy a new lamp for a potential new product then it's a poor show IMO.
This site has A LOT of Shellac threads as well as a Shellac Lovers Group and also some new articles/tutorials by Gigi.
The information is there at your fingertips, this site is here to help, use it to help you and your business.

I think iv made it clear that I did not see any of the threads regarding the lamp wots how long iv been using this site got to do with it I thought I had reaserched the product but clearly have made a mistake and missed a bit of info regarding the lamp easily done wen it's a very very new product how am I supposed to know wot questions to ask I genuinly thought I had everything covered and was excited to be trying my new product I will bye the cnd lamp but think this could have be avoided if it just said a little something on the website.
