hi folks want to invest in a new waxing system, tried roller wax didn't like it so i i am still using pot & spat but i am really interested in using PHD. Ive read some people don't seem to get on with it, but i am thinking from a mobile point of view their is not alot of mess, should i get it or not that is the question. Can someone just decide for me it would be easier for me. JO:lol:

How can someone decide that for you.Its you spending the money.I would say if you didn't like roller there maybe similar reasons why you wont like PHd.
Why didn't you get on with roller
Incidently i use my clean and easy roller which i love, but whenever im out and about mobile i use my pot and spatula because its more versatile.
There is no need for mess with pot and spat and i also take my hot wax pot out too sometimes.
Insert the whole pot into your wax machine heat up hotter than you would normally to allow for travel time and coolage (is that a word :)) put foil over pot if you drive like Lewis Hamilton, and then put your lid on.
Take foil with you.
When you get to destination chuck any gooey foil plug in pot proceed with treatment while chatting at end and cleaning up etc whack up heat so hot for next client and put on more foil.

I'm pretty quick with the pot & spat and the roller wax just didn't seem fast enough, it was fine when it cam out but i thought it cooled down alot quicker that the pot. Maybe i should just go for it i will either love it or hate it.

I find it really fast i would say you arnt using it hot enough, is it clean and easy because thats all i have experience with so cant help you on any others.

i love phd wax i have been using it for over a year now and i will never go back! its quick and easy to use! but like it has been mentioned everyone likes different methods, what may work for us may not work for you! the only thing i can suggest is why not try it before you buy it! im sure if there is a geek near you she may let you have a play so you can decide :green:.

I used phd for years, but now use the Australian Bodycare TT Hy wax system and find it miles better for the following reasons:
  • It has 4 heating chambers rather than 3, giving you more time to heat wax when you are really busy.
  • There are no gates on the disposable heads to worry about opening and closing between applications.
  • It looks like a waxpot and is far tidier than the phd heater.
  • Australian Bodycare as a company are far more interested in looking after their customers than Ellisons, and their back-up is excellent.
Definately worth considering before you do actually decide on a system.
Both systems take about the same amount of time to heat properly and you do need the temperature set high. I can do a full leg easily in 30 minutes.

I used the PHD system and would never go back to it.
I know some people love it and it is a personal choice and only you can decide which system to use.
The main problem i found with PHD is that you can't keep the wax at a constant temperature. You are constantly taking the tubes out of the heater and so consequently they cool and go gloopy. The heads can sometimes get blocked and it's hard to get the wax out.
I preferred to use the honey wax as it heats to a higher temperature than the creme waxes but even so it still cools down too quickly.
I presume that roller waxes would have the same problem as they are also constantly being taken away from the heat source.
There is a roller system though that stays in the heater and so the wax is kept at a constant temperature.
For a wax to be workable, it really needs to be kept at a constant temperature imho :)

I started out using PhD but switched to my pot. I found the problem to be keeping the wax warm enough with just one "booster" chamber. The wax was never in there long enough to warm up and if you had to turn the temp up to keep it warm the tubes in the back to bits were too hot to use.

Also PhD is much more expensive to use then the Pot & Spat, and when working mobile this could be a big consideration!

Mat
