Silica for nail biting and nail strength

Lately I was commenting on a clients lovely natural nails and she said she used to be a chronic nail biter with weak nails until someone told her nail biting indicates a lack of silica in our systems. She started taking silica supplements and within a few weeks had stopped biting her nails and they had grown in beautifully. Anybody heard of this? Anybody else experienced it for themselves? Would love to find out more as it seems too easy!!!

I have been trying to grow my hair fir over a year now and have gas this recommended by my hair dresser. I'm guessing it must have something to do with the keratin. X
