Hiya.
Just want abit of advice from you nail geeks. I've always bitten the skin around my nails but nothing major. But recently they're quite bad. Obviously, stopping bitting them is the only answer! But would moisturising help? As i'm only biting them as the skin's quite sharp?
Thanks for any help xx

Yes it will help, although a hand cream or moisturiser isn't enough to soften the skin around your nails... you need cuticle oil. I use Solar oil from CND, it's really good and will really soften the skin, making it next to impossible to pick as all the hard skin will be gone.

Just apply a very small amount around the cuticle area and rub in.

You should notice a big difference in a matter of days.

It might help, but with me I do it when I am stressed. The only thing that saves my hands is enhancements, not sure why but i leave them alone and they look nice and don't hurt.

Since you are a skin tech maybe just a NNO?

each time you re-bite you create another scar...its the scar that makes this tough skin that gets thick and sharp, you then bite it again to remove and on goes the cycle.....the only way to stop this is to, stop biting...creams and oils with give a temporary fix but not permanent.

From one who knows I can tell you what absolutely works.

Have a pair or cuticle nippers with you at all times and when you feel a bit of hard scarred skin that you want to bite, just carefully nip it off close to the skin so you can no longer feel it. Temptation gone.

Also use Solar Oil every day to aid in the healing process ... in 2-3 days you will feel a marked difference and in a week at the most, the healing will have taken place and the skin around your nails will look amazing.

Wearing Enhancements do also help stop you from getting in there and being able to bite the skin.

So everyone is right. Put it all together and you have a cure.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I'll get some cuticle oil.
Also got an appointment for nails on Friday so fingers crossed it'll be sorted soon! Xx
