Im wanting to try out nail enhancments for myself ive never had any done and wondering if any of you guys/gals can recommend if its better I try out L&Ps or gels first?? Ive fallen head over heels with all the glittery funky designs etc ive been seeing

My natural nails are quite healthy and prob 3-4 mm over the free edge atm if that helps at all

Any advice would be super duper, thx in advance *mwah*

Hey my lovely nail geekies^^

I think a better question would be can we recommend a great nail technician in your area !!!

where about in Europe do you live ?:)

lol ^^

I live in germany atm but im from the uk only been over here for a few months and with the lingo well its bit hard to get good advice and not just a sales talk or something lol

Xx

Lol so your in the UK....................do you want to narrow the field a bit !!!!

Honestly I have no vested interest to do a sales talk or pitch !

There is 'no better' system in terms of will it won't it damage your natrual nails, but there is a lot of difference between techs and products and what your own personal preference is and the durability of the enhancement and whether you actually want an enhancement with extra length added or a natrual nail overlay.

You can do Glitters, funky designs and shapes in both Gel and Liquid & Powder but not all techs offer all of these services.

Acrylic and Gels are both great nail enhancements, what really matters is that the tech using them is skilled. Some people can be allergic to one or the other so they may use the other one for that reason. Nail Tech's may use just one because it is the one they like/are better at working with but many are proficient in both. Technically acrylic and gels are made of the same things. You should just try for yourself, you can add glitter and fun stuff to both.

okok i get what you mean shoulda tried being more specific my bad

Had a think about it and i guess i want to know which is the more durable of the two and if there is a difference in the amount of maintenance needed (if that makes sense at all). I would prefer something that can lengthen my own nails slightly as well.

Lol yea uk is a bit vague, near Belfast, Northern Ireland is more my area but im between there and Hamburg Germany a lot atm.

I wasnt meaning u guys doing sales pitches!! nonono but where i am you get a lot (and i mean a lot) of ppl talkn pure crap and being pushy sales like, thats why I asked here so i could get some proper information ^^

I will answer this the best I can, I apologise to all the techs who are a lot better with words than I am:

There should be no real difference between the duarability of L&P and Gel, however you have buff off gels and soak off gels and soak off gels are not as good as buff off gels for extending a nail.

The decision to have gels or L&P will be determined by how active you are, what your lifestlye is etc; many would still consider that L&P is more durable than a buff off gel;and to certain extent whether the nail technician you choose uses both systems or not.

There are two ways to extend your nails Tips or sculpting

Tips are glued onto the natrual nail. They traditionally come in white, clear & natrual , however nowdays they can be coloured patterned etc.

The other way is a sculpted nail, which is where a form is fitted and the extended free edge is sculpted onto the form.

This type of enhancement allows the technician to do something other than the usual ie a stilletto, or edge shape.

Maintenance, there is no short route, both systems require maintenace every two to three weeks from the technician and daily from yourself....using a good oil, using gloves for washing up, not using your new Jewels as tools etc.

hope this helps

Oh and if any techs say ' Acrylic is bad for your nails' or 'gels let your nails breathe' run away lol

Thank you soso much for all that info thats exactly the type of thing i was needing to know, your a star^^ can do some research myself know that i actually have a good reference point

" Oh and if any techs say ' Acrylic is bad for your nails' or 'gels let your nails breathe' run away lol "
