Hi I haven't been a member of this forum for very long so forgive me if most of you already know about this (I'm sure some of you are yawning already!) but I just found out that if the rateable value of your shop/salon is less than £10,000 you can qualify for discount on your business rates.
It works on a sliding scale so if for example your RV is £7000 you get 30% off. £5000 is 50% etc.
I'm sure that in most towns it'll only be tiny shops that qualify but if you do fall into this bracket its worth contacting your borough council to see if you can get this discount. Every little helps as they say at Tesco!
