Hi This is my first question on here so I apologise if it's been asked before. I am looking into booking trainingfor gel nails and am finding it difficult to decide who to go with. I have been looking at techniques for doing French NNOs which I particuarly would like to do and find that some people appy the pink and then swipe it off and then appy the white whereas others apply the pink and then paint the white over the top. Which method is best. I in my amateur fashion have tried the white over the pink and sometimes find it ends up too thick and raised. Please help. Sorry for length of this been, building up the courage to ask for ages. Just been lurking!

Hi and welcome to the site, you'll soon be hooked replying to threads and asking questions :wink2:

There is no right or wrong way of doing pink and whites with gel, one technique works better for some techs than others, it's down to personal preference.

Have you decided whether you'd like to use a soak off gel or a buff off gel?
Which companies have you looked at for your training?

Since you are just starting out, you may want to try a thin consistency Brush On Gel (like NSI Brush On French White). You can apply them just like polish, and because they are so thin, you won't have the "raised" look you are talking about - apply pink first, remove tacky layer, then apply white. If there is a little hump, it will be easier filled in when you finish with a gel top coat.

Best of luck to you!

Different companies train in different ways...who was you thinking of training with...? Its best to wait till you have had your training before trying to find techniques. x

Hi Thanks for advice. I have been enquiring at my local beauty college where they use Millenium and the fees are quite reasonable. I would like to do Calgel but obviously the fees are quite high and I would have to travel quite a distance.I really like Akzentz and have been practising on myself with them but don't think they do courses do they? I live in Nottingham so I'm sure if they did do courses there wouldn't be one near me. I've also enquired about Go but not sure about them? It's so conusing I really don't know what to do for the best. Btw it's Soak off that I would like to do.
