Has anyone used solar oil on calgel nail overlays? Not in the first 24 hours after applying calgel though as no cuticle oil/cream can be applied. Would this cause lifting as it is not calgels own? I was thinking ingredients contained within solor oil may cause lifting?

I prefer the solor oil to calgels own cuticle cream.

I use solar oil over calgel with no probs i also use Creatives Moisturisers without any probs.

Sorry, but why do you say that treatment oils for the nails could not be used with Calgel for 24hrs after application?

I have never heard this before and neither do I understand why this could not be possible? In fact, I would say that it would be essential to use an oil be it Calgels, solar oil or any other good treatment oil after gel application. The prep involves dehydrating the nail plate and this lost moisture needs to be replenished when the enhancements are complete.

I always use oil on my clients nails post treatment and have never experienced problems doing this. I apply hand cream as well so my clients leave my salon with soft, moisturized hands and fingers .

Solar oil can be used with any good gel system, just as Calgel oil could. I am currently using NSI nurture oil with my Calgel overlays.

Ditto never had any problem with any oil.

I digged out my notes and I have written " no cuticle cream/oil for 24 hours to allow gel to cure properly" also "treat as baby nails for 24 hours".

I was given this information by the trainer, was I given the wrong information?

I have a refresher course next week so I will ask again, I know it is a different trainer.

Never heard of this either and I have been fully trained and certified with Calgel. Although I no longer use Calgel - I have in the past nourished with solar oil and nurture oil with no problems at all.

i have always heard that the oil helps to cure the gel further, along with keeping the gel flexible and in good shape as well as the cuticles.

I've done the training and a refresher and don't have this anywhere in my notes, but hey ho, this is where Salon Geek is so helpful and you learn something new all the time.

By the way, Calgel is cured properly (clear after 30 secs and colour after 3 mins under a UV lamp), so don't understand why your notes would mention the 24hours for the gel to cure properly?? Mystery to me, but I hope your post has cleared this up for you.

Enjoy your refresher.

yep, definatly has! I will now apply cutilcle oil confidently after enhancements. thankyou
