we are so busy with spray tans at the moment ( I am not complaining) but the spray tan room looks messy no matter how much we clean it.
What are people doing in other salons to keep things looking respectable??
I was thinking about painting it a darker colour but then the lighting would be poor and we wouldnt see the tan going on.
Would an extractor ran help and if so where can you get them at a reasonable price?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated

Can you give any more details, i.e. what machine you are using, if there is any ventilation / extraction at the moment, how big / small is the room, if you use a a tent, how many tans are you doing in a day? Is it just the floor that is getting messy and what is the current cleaning regime?

Even with extraction I think any room will discolour after time. I have a black screen for the client to stand in front of when spraying and I always mop the floor after every client. The tan leaves a slightly pink tint on everything, I changed my room from cream to pale green which has helped a bit. Probably needs re painting every 6 months which isn't too bad. Su-do do an extractor which stands behind the client but as my room is quite small I think this would be a bit too cramped. The extraction I have is vented outside through the wall I think its expelair - we also have a window in the room but as the tan is in the air it seems to settle on any surfaces light switches etc so constant wiping down is required. The best idea I have seen was a fully tiled room with dark tiles - a bit like a large shower cubicle without the shower, these can then be wiped or showered down to clean. Good idea if the room is not used for anything other than spray tans.

We use a pop up tanning booth but we open it & position it in a V in the corner of the room, seems to stand up better if not assembled completely.

Under the booth sides we postion a black bath mat, so it covers the floor area where spraying & doesn't show discoluration - washes well.

I have ten of the bath mats I turn it over in between clients & there's really no visible overspray in our room/s from tanning.
Hope you get it sorted

great idea Jnail! Love the bathmat idea.
What about painting the walls as close as you can get to the overspray color?

Thanks hun,

We use Vani-t products they have there diamonte logo available to iron on towels, t-shirts. booth etc. I'm ordering some veerry soon.

For the body treatments we use the black bath sheets for the beds & hand towels to remove product. Bath mats for spray tanning.
The logo's should look cool against the black towels etc.

we are using sienna sun machine and solution, the room used to be the waxing room so it is slightly longer than a couch with just enough room to move around - it is on the small size but adequate. No windows, ventilation or extractor being used at the mo. We do between 2 and 6 tans a day but even one makes such a mess. We do have a tent.
thank for your help in advance

Hiya
I would say definitely get an extractor, either from a tanning company or, I got mine from a company called 4air which specialises in air purification.
Apart from the mess, it is not good for you to be breathing it in.
The problem with tanning (imo) is the mess!
I would paint the walls a good colour to disguise the overspray, and if time permits, whizz in after each tan and mop the floor.
Maybe use dark coloured towels on the floor like someone else suggested.
I don't do many tans, but when I do, the mess really gets to me, so I have decided as of today I am going to designate a special area to tanning (which you already do) and custom make a curtain to hang behind the client.
I have a Tantrick Apollo tc3 which doesn't create a lot of overspray and I have 2 extractors but although the mess gets to me, tbh it is invisible to the naked eye. Also Tantrick solutions wipe off with a damp cloth, I would imagine this is the same for Sienna Sun(?) so I would say clean up little and often!
