Hiya

I've been spray tanning for almost a year and use Fake Bake solution. Over the last month or so for the first time i've had a few customers complianing about slightly patchy hands or wrists.....but i've never had any past complaints whatsoever.

All clients swear that they exfoliated properly and did not come into contact with any water. I always apply oil free moisturiser beforehand on hands elbows knees and feet.

One of the customers admits to having really dry skin which just soaks up the solution which i suppose could be the reason? But the other 2 have normal skin.

I just wondered if anyone could give me some advice? Is is something to do with the way Im spraying their hands and wrists....am I putting too much or perhaps even too little of the solution on perhaps?

Thanks geeks

the hands and wrist are the most tricky parts to get right and can totally ruin the look of a good tan
I use a none oil based moisturiser and rub it into the palms and hands almost to the wrist also between the fingers where the fingers meet the knuckles
I spray the back of the arm to above where a watch is worn when i am tanning the back of the body/arms with a VERTICAL stroke
when i am tanning the arms and hands i do the inner forearm and thumb with one VERTICAL stroke then the outer arm and fingers with a second VERTICAL stroke keep the gun about 10 inches away from the hands its easy to go too close as the client tend to push the arms outwards towards you
I then turn the arms so the palm is down wards L shaped inner wrist towards you and do 1 HORIZONTAL flick across the wrist
less is definately best around the hands HTH

you can use a special barrier cream just a rub bits in areas like hands, elbows, ankles really helps !x:green:

This is great......thank you!!

Just to be clear, do you NOT rub the oil free moisturiser into the wrist as well?

Also is barrier cream the same as oil free moisturiser?

Great......thank you so much!!

no problem i have just had a full set of photos done like that for the impending/ improved 2010 training manual
i will watermark them and add them to our website eventually :rolleyes: so that our customers can download them as a free printable chart but the pics will have the logo splattered across them HTH

Steve has it right. The wrists are high traffic areas. Clothing and watches can assist a spray tan to fade very quickly in the above mentioned areas. You should tell your clients to keep those areas very moisturized. I would also insist they use a spray tan extender like Body Armor. That will assist the tan fading evenly. If the problems persist I would call your solution company and tell them what is going on. Maybe they changed something, or maybe this is a bad batch.
