I cleanse the client's underarm, they are not wearing deodorant.

Why is it when I spray the area around the underarm, it makes a big stained/smudged patch in the inner part of the arm.

The tan comes out fine without streaking, but I would like to understand why this happens? I want to try and achieve doing a spray tan without this smudge as it makes the client nervous thinking the tan will steak.

Is it because before the area sprayed is dried the client puts arms down and it rubs against the skin besides the breast?

This ALWAYS happens to me when I'm tanning...but I think it is down to them touching their arms to their body before tan is dry. I notice it especially on women with larger arms so that would also suggest its from touching. x

It could be a number of things however the most likely is that if you think about the shape of the body under the armpits..its concave in shape so over spray tends to get caught up or trapped here ...much in the same way as between the breasts.

Try using a tad less solution to this area and even perhaps pull your gun back so as to simply mist this area.

If to much solution is applied here it is so easy for it to look a mess...particularly immediately after when the client puts there arm down...accentuated problem if the client has....well erm...excess baggage to this area which rubs and will make things look horrid.....even though the tan invariably turns out fine and as you have already identified customers will undoubtedly feel more at ease with your capabilities if you can avid this problem in the first place.

Less is more...especially to this area as with between the breasts

HTH:hug:

I think its just when they put there arms back down by there sides straight after being sprayed without letting it dry but I know what you mean

this used to happen to me when i first started, often ****s get in the way, they touch the inner arm when it is put down and inner arm touches side of body thus creating a nice pool of solution soo.....

1. when spraying the back first make sure arms are away from sides of body
2. when spraying sides of body make sure you dont spray solution into the pit of the armpit but just below it, after you done spraying side of body tell them to keep their arm up then make them swivel to the other side to spray that side again when done tell them to keep both arms up
2 when facing you tell them to keep arms up so that elbows are almost at right angle to shoulder. (like a puppet..lol)

you also need to direct your spray so that it does not go into creaves to much, by the time you have finished spraying them that whole area will be dry enough to avoid any pooling.

Ah, that all makes sense. I will try to guide the client to not put arms down by their sides or sweep against their breast.

Thanks.
