Hi folks, I am quite new to spray tanning. Have equipment and have completed training been really looking forward to starting this but as I have been practising have been just getting more and more down. I'm sat here at the minute in tears because I don't know whether to just quit it or not. I am 36 weeks pregnant also so don't know whether it's just hormones. I have sprayed 2 people and found that their legs needed sprayed again as had white bits on them. Was trying to practise with gun etc but hose has broken off and am I having to use a bit tape to keep it together. It is my friend who bought machine as I was planning to use her salon to work in machine is HVLP VIP. Machine works fine I just don't really like gun, and I don't know if this is my fault as I'm not using it properly. Also find that I am using way way too much solution for one person. I am getting so down I'm not sleeping as I have a few customers to do next week and feel I am not good at tanning plus I am using way too much solution poss just over 1oo on one client. Any help would be appreciated. xxx

Yikes ....does seem a bit hormonal what your going through
Its quiet normal to get things wrong when your just setting off...have some faith in yourself
Sit down ,take a deep breath, look at that dam machine and say to yourself..im gonna beat this...

Sounds like you have a few problems with your machine and probably just some minor adjustments you need to make.

I would be more than willing to have helped you on the Phone but unfortunately im not here

If you want to you can call one of our trainers Louise im sure will be happy to help you over the phone 07758 410884 (hopefully:hug:)

Just remember there are thousands of therapists out there..most if not all have had problems setting off...Give Louise a call and ask her nicely for her help
Good luck and DONT let it get on top of you..you can do it

Have you got someone you can prctice on?
Siennasol do a practice spray so you can practice on the same person over and over again and it just washes off.
We all used too much solution to start with. You just get better with practice-it really is practice, practice, practice.
There are some good tips in the tutorials on the site so maybe you could read through those and get some pointers.

I had a hideous time originally with spray tanning, then I got some extra training and practiced and practiced and practiced and then one doy it all clicked into place (someone said the other day that I gave her the best spray tan she had ever had, how true that was is anyone's guess but it's nice to hear anyway!) and I couldn't spray for toffee originally.

I do still sometimes find with the legs that they come out lighter but I was watching myself the other day and I think that I go much farther away from the legs (particularly from the shins) when I spray so I am going to watch that and make a conscious effort to spray closer.

In terms of the hose breaking off - what do you mean? Is the gun attached just with tape? Ypu may find that the vaccuum isn't as strong so the suction can't work properly and that would really cause you problems. I would get in contact with the people who sold your friend the gun and see what they say but the saying 'a bad workman blames his tools' is absolute rubbish - you can't do a good job without good tools. It simply isn't possible. And that may be the problem with using too much solution too. I'd get your gun checked and then take it from there but seriously, everyone has teething problems, its just down to practice. Where are you based - perhaps there is a geek nearby who can help? Lx

Its the forearms with me! Its a bit like learning to drive! You still drive in the 10 to 2 position for a while to you get your swing on things then it becomes second nature!

Oh Sweetie,
I couldn't imagine taking this on at 36 weeks pregnant. I think a high % of people will tell you that spray tanning is not easy at the beginning.
I personally asked myself the same question about quitting .
I had a couple of disasters i made my Mum and Sister look like Bubbles Devere, it's funny when i look back but at the time i couldn't see things improving.
I spent ages looking back at other threads, asking questions, speaking to my trainer and fine tuning what i was doing. My big problem was having the density dial open double the recommended amount .
Like the other geeks have said it does suddenly click into place and you will alter your technique slightly to suit you.
Do you have a training manual showing picture of a spray routine?
There is also a section on tutorials on here which is a great help.
Can't help with the equipment as i don't have a clue, take Louise up on her offer.
Chin up sweetie, keep practicing, your not alone everyone here will help if they can.

 xxx

Hi everyone, Thanks soo much for all your support I am looking back on what I wrote yest and defo was feeling a bit hormonal but I am feeling much better today. Yeah I have a few people to practise on, will defo be giving you a call Lou at beginning of week, thanks so much for that also. Wel the hose has come away from the machine at the machine end not the gun end have taped it at mo and seems to be working fine but shall be defo phoning comp. I am thinking about purchasing my own machine, as friend is not happy with using this company again as she said their cust service is shocking and had nothing but hassle with them. Oh goldylocks you have really cheered me up (Bubbles Devere) lol. Thankyou all v much will keep on practising and will defo be contacting Louise. I think before I ventured into all this and bought things and spent money etc I thought it was just a case of spraying and now I realise it's not but once you practise it makes perfect, as at first when I started driving I didn't ever think I was going to be able to drive as it was difficult but it does become like second nature. Thanks again everyone I love this forum as everyone is so helpful xxx
