Striping tape

I completed a set of nails last night with gold striping tape on them, already one of the strips has come off. Grrrrrrr
Thankfully it was a practice set on my sister in law but I need to work out how to apply the tape and stop
It lifting. I used 2 lots of top coat after applying it to the tacky layer of the colour gel.
Any hints or tips?

Don't touch the sticky side with your fingers, use tweezers, and cut the tape 1mm shorter than you need to allow the edges to be fully sealed in with top coat. Top coat twice

Do you apply the tape to the tacky layer or wipe that off first? I applied it to the tacky layer but wanted to check that wasn’t wrong x

I would remove it, its hard for something sticky to stick to something slippery
