Tax code for employed hairdresser?

Hi are tax codes differentffor employed hairdressers to everyone else?

My daughter got her letter with tax code 492t, I thought everyone could earn around 10k before tax but she can only earn £4, 927!

She only gets just over minimum wage and is 18, doesn't seem right to me?...

No, there's no 'special allowance' for hairdressers, lol.

Presumably she's not receiving income from any other source or owes outstanding tax from previous employment?

Could it possibly be emergency tax? My dad used to be on emergency tax when he got a new job untill they got his propper code sorted
