I can't seem to do an acrylic nail without it being full of tiny air bubbles. Honestly it's sending me mad!! I'm using EN dream L&P. I'm sure my mix isn't too wet or dry and I'm leaving it to settle for a few seconds before working it (as has been suggested to me by several geeks) but I'm still getting bubbles! PLEASE HELP!!

Are you 'burping' your brush? If not you will have lots of little air bubbles trapped in the bristles.... splay the bristles out on the bottom of the dappen dish before wiping off the excess monomer and picking up the powder :)

Yes I'm burping my brush.

My first guess would be that it's your mix ratio that needs looking at and tweaking.

You must also make sure that you don't over work the product.

That's what I was going to say. I don't do acrylic but this was one thing I remember from my teacher in school. She always said that working the product too much will cause bubbles. Or air being in your brush.

Having done all of the above, when you have settled your bead, don't start patting it around, as you will be patting air back into it and causing bubbles. Press and push it into place, don't pat.
Try practising your mix ration by placing a bead onto the lid of a tip box and watching it settle, if it runs and flattens quickly - it's too wet, if it stays where it is and is lumpy, it's too dry, if it settles and 'domes', then this is about right.
I'm basing this on working with CND Retention+ and perfect colour powders, but it will give you an idea.
Practise and practise hun, you'll get there in the end.

Hi Kirsty, join the "bubble" Club im using the same products n no matter how much i practise im still gettin the annoying lil bubbles!! But i have to admit now i've read Bevs comment, i am terrible for patting it:rolleyes:! I think i go into a panic when it hits the nail lol, other problem im having just now is lifting due to spreading too thin at the cuticle, dont think im ever going to get there:irked:, let me know if you master it!!

I'm gald I'm not the only one! I think I pat too much as well lol. I'll have to try pressing and pushing and see how it goes.

i too find diffculty with ratios i think i panic at times
