Where better to start my reasearch than here :?:

I am looking for THE very best hair extension training and products on the market.

Care to share ? :D

Funny you should ask that!

We've been in this industry for about 10 years now, and invested lots of time and LOTS of money into our absolute key product- which is of course, excellent quality human hair.

I don't think its professional to "slag off" other brands- but suffice to say we tried lots and lots of the "larger" brands and have often been disappointed by either the price or the quality of the hair itself. In the end you're paying a premium to pay for their marketing!

So, we took the plunge and decided to invest some capital into importing for ourselves, and after a few disapointments and disasters we reckon we've found the best hair on the market at the moment.

We, either as a retailer or extensionists, wouldnt touch synthetic hair with a barge-pole so I couldnt comment for that. But we appreciate there's possibly a time and place for it.

We're sorting out some discounts for Geeks at the moment- but in the meantime if you'd like a sample you can send us an email at [email protected]

As for training? Be careful- we used to train (again for some of the "larger" brands) and we know they differ wildly in both price and quality. If you're planning on doing this as a long term business proposition (and to save yourself some headaches in the long run) you should be proficient with hair already. Be aware that certain "guilds" don't actually exist in reality- and be aware you're not going to be industry standard with a couple of days training!

We offer an "ask the experts" service on our site- whether it be about looking after your hair, the different techniques of fitting hair extensions or business advice for your salon if you're new to promoting hair extensions as a service- please dont hesitate to ask us FREE by sending us a mail at [email protected]

Thanks for the reply, good idea for the geek discount :wink2:

I am a qualified hairdresser and live in west yorkshire,is there anyone who's training you would recomend ?

"anyone who's training you would recommend"

Well yes, how about us?

We're thinking about running a one-day "Introduction the Hair Extensions- Basic applications and techniques" course.

It would be an intensive days training leaving you with the basics of the skills by ex-Racoon trainers. You'd also go away with a training manual and be expected to practice practice practice!

Prices are TBA but won't be extortionate.

The course WILL be intensive and professional, and as a consequence you'd be expected to be a fully qualified hairdresser.

The course will be running from our Cheshire salon, which is just 2 minutes away from our local train station.

There will be a maximum of six places available and a minimum of four.

Dates are TBA and will fit to when you can be free- but will be on a Monday.

If you're interested please email us at [email protected] or leave us a message.

Thanks!

Hair
I have tried and tested many brands of hair and can highly recommend Bohyme by Celebrity Elite - the hair is fantastic and you wont be disappointed with it at all.
Training
There is a thread already on Hair Extension training and if you take a look some have already been mentioned on that thread.
Or you could check the habia website as I do know that some of them are listen on there aswell.

 i have :!: and posted how much i hate companies who will train anyone, without any relevant qualification, hence my problems trying to find great education :D

I have many questions EXTENSIONIZE i'll be in touch :D

hey becki hun if we did it at the same time we could maybe go down on train :green: at least then you can strangle me for the other night

Celebrity Elite? Good hair but rather pricey. Costs almost a third on top of what we charge. Sorry about the plug, but you ought not to be paying too much! You've got margins to consider here! :)

Dee and Becki (couple more would be nice!) If you want to drop me a line as and when (and if!) you're interested please feel free to do so....We'll even chuck in a lift from the station!

Extensionize,i will ask this on the board,as it may be of interest to other geeks :D

What type of qualification are you offering and is it recognised by insurance companies ?

Many thanks :D

Absolutely- good idea.

This training session is being put on as a response to a few people on here asking if we train. It will be a one-off and will give you training on the basics of hair extension techniques. The course will be covering bonded extensions as this is what we specialise in.

What type of qualification are you offering?- Very often qualifications offered by hair extension trainers are often sales rhetoric by companies. A certificate produced by a company has no legal status- basically anyone could print a certificate and call it a "qualification". So, as honesty is the best policy, you will not recieve any form or legal qualification. You'd be learning techniques from someone who has been in the extension business for over 10 years.

Is it recognised by insurance companies?- This is just one of the reasons we're insisting you be a fully qualified hairdresser. It would be your responsibility to ascertain if your current policy covers extensions (as is often the case.)

We will not be offering hair extension kits (glue guns and accessories etc) but will be offering the opportunity to sample the hair we stock.

If you send us an email at [email protected] we can send anyone who's interested an agenda for the training.

Hope that helps- always best to make people aware of exactly what they will and will not be getting out of it.

my friend trained with and uses racoon....she thinks they are great compare to other brands that she has used. i'm not a hair geek so am unable to give any other info than that sorry.....but just thought i'd share.good luck
xx

have sent you an email :green:

Thankyou very much

At this point in time i am looking for a recognised qualification, however i will certainly bear you in mind for future courses

No problem Becki- not sure how many legally professional qualifications out there at the moment- rather than company-led "made-up" ones. We were suggesting this as a one-off as a response to a few people asking rather than another venture.

But, if you need any advice in the future (or indeed anyone else) please feel free to drop me a message.

Cheers!

I would not use anything else in my own hair apart from the Celebrity Elite, I personally dont think its pricey for me as it works out good value for money as I can reuse it and can now get three to four installs out of one purchase. But as I also think that many people have a budget in mind when thinking about hair extensions.

"I can reuse it and can now get three to four installs out of one purchase"-

Fair point- if you like it thats ok! But you should be able to reuse any quality hair as long as it's being looked after!

Hi I have to disagree with the above ,
our in house hair team have done an enormous amount of research over many years ,
and spent a lot of money on this research ,
and sadly we found this was not the case  x

.

Ps , Just to add I am not saying anything about the quality of your own type of hair
(as I haven't tried it as yet ) . and the web site certainly looks good .

Over the years we have come across some very badly prepared hair,

so if a hair geek finds a good product in the hair range we tend to stick with what works best
and we will place our trust that certain company ,

but we are always open to other great hair products.

I shall contact you for some hair samples (if that is ok ?)
I couldn't get the link to work for some reason , lol x

.

I'd be interested to know which brands or types of hair you've used. It's certainly possible but not preferable.

*edit* Sorry replied before i saw your own edits.

Not at all! Always good to get some perspective from someone else who knows what they're talking about! Drop us a line if you'd like a sample.
