I'm not a mobile hairdresser... work in a salon.. but Im doing a wedding tomorrow which is the bride 2 bridesmaid and mother of the bride...

Anyway have done a trial for the bride all happy etc.. but she came into the salon so I charged her etc what I would anyone else ..

But tomorrow I'm going to the house and wondered if anyone could give me a rough Idea what to do..

A, do you think I should charge what I would if they came to the salon to have there hair done?..

b, Or not as much as I'm using there electric water etc...

Bearing in mind I dont work sundays and Im travelling to her house (not far only 10 mins in car) will be there about 2 and a half hours and have to be there for just before 8 in the morning..

any idea?

Hi Hun,
I am not a hairdresser, but if it was my wedding hair to be done, I would expect to pay the same as in the salon or even a bit more.
How many salons open on a Sunday ???????? I would be just so happy to get a hairdresser on a Sunday.
It maybe their water & electric, but it is your time and your fuel to get you there.
They can't be too bothered as if they were they would of already asked what the cost is to be.
I hope another Hair stylist comes on tonight to guide you.
Best of luck.......Take plenty of hair spray, weather report not too good for tomorrow.
Lotsa luv x x x :hug::hug: x x x

Hey.

I would be inclined to charge more but I guess it depends on...

who gets the money you charge? are you self employed or is it going to your boss anyway?

how good a client it is?

Usually, if I'm working a Sunday in the salon it will be same preice, if I'm doing mobile hair on a Sunday I would prob charge the same as I would if its in the salon but you need to factor in travel expenses. Do you think she is likely to not be happy with what you are charging if its a bit more? I would maybe make an itemised bill. I usually get my brides to pay in full at last trial or their last appointment before the wedding, but I haven't done any who aren't regular customers. Maybe just charge £5 extra for travel if you say its only 10 mins away? Just make sure it is worth your while. Last thing you want is to leave with £50 for 2 and a half or 3 hours. hope this helps :)

I agree with poshfloss, if they were really bothered about the cost they would have asked. I've got a wedding in Nov that is an hour either way away and I'm just going to work out mileage and charge 40p a mile, this is the standard mileage rate. And if you are self employed you can claim tax back on the petrol. xx

I occaisionally do this for people. I charge my published salon prices, plus travel time @ my average hourly rate. Everyone has been happy to pay this so far and I also get a hefty tip too.

i charge an extra £10 for bank hols/ sundays, and £5 for travel, who else would get up so early for same money??? no way! it's my only day off.. no one has ever had a prob with it!

thanks for all your advice .. will charge same as in salon and a bit extra for travel etc ...

Biggest mistake I ever make is charging not enough and then thinking once they have left...." wish i had charged the rght amount" xx

defo charge a call out fee. . my work has a standard 40 quid call out rate. . . then the cost of the service on top of this. . . u shud just decide what u think is fair. . x

Hi, natsel I always charged a bit more for the Brides wedding day updo because you will take more time to make it perfect ect ... the trial is always usually quicker and cheaper
charge for your petrol and out of hours services ... always charge a fair price for a fair days work
after all Gals gotta make a living :)
Surley they must realise you are going out of your way for them by working on a Sunday too  x minky

Yes i agree with the other stylist as a salon owner I have done the odd special customer call out and added on for my average hourly rate for the extra time travelling. But what no one else has mentioned yet is. Why did you not agree the price at the trial ?? Surprising her by boosting your price on her wedding morning could confuse/annoy/embarass (may not have enough cash to hand ?) her.Which could result in you losing her future custom.I always tell my staff to be open and clear about prices in consultation .Hope it went well.
