hi, is there any experienced techs out there that could give me a time breakdown for different nail procedures, like time taken for sizing and applying tips, blending tips, French o/l, colour o/l etc ?
i have only been back into nails a while and wanted to see if i could cut or use my time in a better way. (i,m a calgel user)

I would say that really, concentrate on the quality of the sets you do rather than how long it all takes, and you will find in time (probably quite a long time unless you are full time) that you speed up considerably. hth x

Its not often i use tips but when i do i tend to pre blend them when i'm quite that way i spend less time blending on the nail. I would say i takes me about 15-20 minutes froms sizing to adhering to blending to cuting and shaping. then about 30 minutes application and 30 minutes finishing. my total treatment time is 90 minutes so give and take here and there on timings

If you could sculpt that would save you time as well as money.

hi thanks for your replys, i'm happy with my results ( i'm keeping busy thank goodness!) i just think i could work faster and maybe dividing my time up would be beneficial, i did a full set of sculpts on a biter yesterday and i still think its more expensive for me to do than tip using the extra gel to build the sculpt ( its really expensive ) i would like to use l&p but just cant get the art of pushing the white into a nice smile

When u compare how much a tray of tips are and how long these last to a pot of gel and how long that lasts i'm sure you would see a difference when sculpting. You really don,t need to use a lot for the free edge. Dont forget the cost of your adhesive also, and the time it take to apply tips.

hmmm i not convinced the gel i use is mega expensive ! i wish i could tell you how much but I'm not sure I'm allowed to on this forum, i must admit i prefer to sculpt cos i dont like all the dust from the tips! i think i may look for a decent gel that is less expensive !

Absolutley, if its that expensive that its affecting your profit. What do u use?

hi, i use calgel but am dabbling with akzentz

I've heard good things about that gel, there are quite a few geeks who use it and recommend it. Brisa is another gel u might want to try, i use it and like to clarity it gives. Although u would need to train with CND to buy it.

Shop around and ask other geeks what they like. i think a pot of CND gel is £20 but not sure to be honest as i'm more of a L&P person. Others would let you know

I take 75min for a full set of calgel (using tips) with clear gel or 90min for colour or french. I have been doing gels for 8 years and used to take much longer than this. I find as long as the finished result is excellent clients don't really mind how long it takes.

Anyway to break it down:
1) 30min for prep & gel on natural nails
2) 5 min for tips
3) 10 min for cutting and shaping tips
4) 15 min for blending/buffing
5) 15 min for clear gel overlay or 30 min for french/colour overlay

Hope this helps.

yey that is just what i wanted thanks xx
