Hiya,

I bought a nail trainer 2nd hand but it doesn't have the instruction booklet or DVD with it, just the hand and extra nail beds.

I intend to see if I can order just the DVD and book from EN, but haven't got around to it yet......yes I know, give me a slap!!!

Do I need to buy special tips and glue to use on this or do I use normal ones...if normal ones then is it ok to just use cheap tips for practising.....any recommendations?

I know this is probably a daft question!

Thanks, Lou xx

Hi lou

Do you have the little like orange nail beds with it????/ I have some here I can send to you, but unforunatley, only awkward sizes,, I used to just cut mine tbh. You then apply your form or tip as it was a nail bed...voilaaaa xxxx

ahhh just thought is it the essential nail trainer??????

If you go to EN they have all the parts for the trainer you can buy there, if I remember correctly it was either the primer or the glue was kind of half strength because it would damage the hand. Im sure someone will say which one lol
I used to use any cheap tips it was fine

i use normal tips and glue on mine. the glue i got with the hand was horrible. It took about 30 secs to set and i couldnt get used to it. Couldnt hold it still long enough

I must say i've never looked at the user manual that came with my nail trainer! I just click the plastic tips in and slide them off. I stopped using the spongy finger bits quite quickly too

Thanks ladies, yes it is the essential nails trainer hand.

Do I need to buy some of their primer then if I'm using a system that doesn't require primer?

Thanks, Lou x

lol rightly or wrongly I just use what i have ! i dont prime and the only prep I do on bob is lightly remove the shine and then use my products as normal !

Lou tbh,, I never used any primer. I just basically used my hand for application technique, why use primer, its not a human hand, not washing dishes, opening doors etc, so the chances of getting lifting are minimal lets be honest. I used forms on mine and not tips but it all depends on what u want to prasctise, if you want to practise blending tips then I would use what you are trained to use,i.e I use gelbond so therefore I would apply my tips with this so when I would do a human hand using gelbond I would be confident in my products.

If you practise with dif products you intend to use you will never become comfortable with your product, I know for instance when first training I remember my gel bond got clogged so I used a cheap 'GLUE' I found in my step daughters bedroom,,, well my tips would not blend,,, so I thought, but figured out it was the 'glue' not the tips, but only being more knowledgeable with my products do I recognise this, Using a good adhesive when applying tips makes blending sooo much easier.

I agree wih catsaremad
The primer is mainly use when your learning nails, routine etc
I just used to prep and remove shine and then apply, always used to stay stuck for me lol

Thanks, that makes perfect sense.....I'm just stressing over doing things ''right''!!
Does it matter then what tips I use........can I just et some cheap ones or should I use the ones I intend to use long term? I've just had a nosey on the dreaded 'flea bay' just for some cheap tips for practising.....will these be ok?

thanks, Lou x

i think it depends what you're practising. if you need to practise tip blending then i would say to use the ones you would normally use. If you just want to play with l&p or gel application then i think using cheap tips would be fine. I have some horrible tips that i got when i first started and i use them on my nail trainer. I would never use them otherwise!!!

I agree with the above, if your just practising smile lines , one colour overlay etc would not bother to much, if you are blending get and use the tips you want to use.

Thanks ladies! Gosh just to get started now, I'm sure it will all fall into place! xx

As I said Lou I would practise with what you intend to use. If you use cheap thick plastic tips, then use good high quality tips for your clients, you might use to much force with you file and therefore cause damage, as you are not used to higher quality tips.
