Hi all,

I wonder if someone can help me solve this problem.

I would really like to train in the hair replacement system that adds hair for woman that are thinning, have alopecia or conditions like trichotillomania.
I have googled and googled and I cannot seem to find anyone who provides this training. I have emailed salons who do this service but not had one reply.
I can't even find the name of a company who provide the stock to carry this service out.

Does anyone here have this training and/or can point me in the right direction?

Thanks :)

Hi, i am trained in raccoon extensions (but dont do them any more) but anyway...i think they had a leaflet with one of their trainers doing this. It was about 8 years ago...so forgive me if ive got it wrong. But what about emailing them and asking if they do/or know who does this training..or contact a trichologist they might know. hth:)

I was recently contacted by racoon to try and persuade me to do their 'hair in recovery ' extensions , which are for the type of clients you described . However i have no background in extensions so i decided against it . If you google 'hair in recovery' a link comes up

Thank you for your replies. I'll have a search for the Raccoon one, although I must admit I have never been a fan of the hair.

I had a look Minky. It seems she mostly specialises in wig making. However, it does have some information on hair replacement and she says she will custom build a course, which is promising.

I am going to email her :)

Thanks again!

Hi Deb,

Thanks. I looked at the link, they do provide training but at £2500 for 2 days!

Probably because it is such a niche market.

whoaw thats expensive like you say prob because it is a niche market

Good luck in your search

If your talking about transplants(plugs in the old days) a stylist could be trained by a provider of the service about the millennium 1 of my hair teachers did this in 1995 & taught part time. She advised me to check it out & I wish I had as it soon turned into a surgical certification/specialised qualification to do it....the training to become a "surgeon" was expensive, lengthy & not something I think I would complete/pass.

Which sucks because alot of surgeon type people lack the visual/knowledge of hair related talents/looks & us hair folk lack the interest/drive to complete a dry boring bio-science sentence. Unfortunately it is a marriage of opposing aspects that are a unlikely mix to belong to 1 person:irked:

I have had clients use: Bosley, for restoration services that I have seen. Look em up maybe they can point you proper.
