I'm looking to do a course from http://www.essentialnails.com & i've been looking around the net at the most popular kinds of nail treatments people have.

I've come across many, but some i am having a little difficulty with, so could someone please explain to me what the different types are?

Am i right in saying:
* Gel nail extensions - using a tip?
* Acrylic nail extensions - using a tip?
* Gel nail overlays - Gel over your natural nails, no tip, no extension?
* Acrylic nail overlays - Acrylic over your natural nails, no tip, no extension?

Also i would like to know what infills are, and what re-balancing is.

Thank you so much if you take the time to help me out :)

more or less right, but extensions can be made with a tip or by building out the product on a nail form.

the words infill and rebalance are sometimes interchanged by some people so may mean the same to them. but strictly speaking an infill is just adding product to the new area of growth and a rebalance is a more thorough proceedure that ensures that correct form is restored to the nail enhancement and it looks and performs just like a new one.

* Gel nail extensions - using a tip? tipped or sculpted using a nail form
* Acrylic nail extensions - using a tip? tipped or sculpted using a nail form
* Gel nail overlays - Gel over your natural nails, no tip, no extension? usually the client will already have the desiered length, and would just like the overlay, so no tip is required.

Like the other geek has mentioned, Infills are when you place new product on the nail where old product has grown out, and a rebalance is also when the white tip has moved futher down the nail, and is either cut out with an efile, or filled down and re applied, the apex is also rebuilt "rebalancing" the nail.

Thank you so much if you take the time to help me out :)
